Second Serve

Barbora Strycova and Lucie Safarova lost their doubles semifinal to No.7-seeded Katerina Siniakova and Lucie Hradecka, 6-2, 7-5—and they also lost respect for their Czech mates.

Hingis into Doubles and Mixed Final

The pairs got in a row when Siniakova’s backhand grazed Hradecka’s ponytail at 5-5, 0-30 (with Safarova and Strycova serving) in the second set. Chair umpire Marjana Veljovic did not see the ball make contact with Hradecka’s hair and therefore did not rule against them. Hradecka said nothing and Strycova became livid when she realized the call was not made and that Hradecka would not fess up to what had happened.

If the ball did hit Hradecka's hair then the point should have been awarded to Safarova and Strycova. Hradecka and Siniakova went on to break serve, then hold to clinch the victory.

After the match, Safarova took to Twitter to reprimand her compatriots for their lack of sportsmanship.
