The American Sports Builders Association (ASBA) has announced the publication of the sixth edition of Tennis Courts: A Construction and Maintenance Manual. Copies of the new edition of the book are now available at a cost of $44.95 each. Books can be ordered by contacting the Association directly at 866-501-ASBA (2722), or by going to the web site, www.sportsbuilders.org.
The book, a cooperative venture between ASBA and the U.S. Tennis Association, contains information for those interested in building or learning more about all types of tennis courts. It includes user-friendly technical information on all aspects of tennis courts, including design, budgeting and planning, site requirements, drainage, surface selection, construction, maintenance, repair, amenities and accessories, indoor tennis and more. In addition, it includes diagrams, photos, governing bodies and further sources of information.
New this year is information on 36' and 60' tennis courts, the sizes used in the QuickStart Tennis format which is gaining popularity through the USTA.
“The new edition of the book, Tennis Courts: A Construction and Maintenance Manual, may be one of the most valuable resources our organization has ever published," says Mark Brogan, Tennis Division President of ASBA. "The fact that this book represents a joint effort between these two groups makes it even more useful to all aspects of the industry. Whether a person manages one or two courts at a school, has charge of a fully-staffed tennis club, works with municipal courts and programming, or is in the planning stages of a new court or facility, this book will be an invaluable asset. I am particularly pleased to see the inclusion of 36' and 60' tennis courts, as the shorter courts have allowed us to introduce even more children to the game of tennis."
