Will it be Delpo's or Nole's?
|
The second-seeded Novak Djokovic and 25th seed Juan Martin Del Potro had to stop match play after the night started to roll in at Paris and it became too dark on Friday at 9:15 p.m. The players had split sets with Djokovic taking the first 6-3 and Del Potro taking the second at 6-3.
They had played for an hour and 37 minutes. The Serbiann had the most total points at 62 of 117 and had five less unforced errors but failed to convert six out of seven breaks.
The Argentine hit four aces and the fastest serve of the match at approximately 134 miles per hour.
Question is, who will benefit from the match delay?
Djokovic is coming in fairly fresh after his last opponent retired in the third set and his first round opponent was ousted in a two-hour match. He has made it to the semifinals twice at Roland Garros. He is currently 39-0 in 2011, only three spots from breaking John McEnroe's record, and has the top spot in the rankings on the line.
Del Potro was a French Open semifinalist in 2009 and considering he had been injured for about a year, he has come back strong. He is 27-6 in 2011 and owns two titles from Delray Beach and Estoril. So far, he has beaten fellow giant Ivo Karlovic in four sets and Blaz Kavcic in three sets.
Of course, Djokovic is the favorite but I'd like to see Delpo push him.
