Maria Sharapova Dances the Night Away

Will the Judges Please Reveal Their Scores?

Finally, the secret of why Maria Sharapova laid an egg in the first round of the Pan Pacific Open has been revealed!

The former world No. 1 fell to Kimiko Date-Krumm in straight sets Tuesday out of sheer exhaustion after participating in the pre-tournament "Kids Tennis" event.

After laughing herself silly while watching the Japanese host get the crowd of children excited, Sharapova gets into the groove and manages to excel at a dance routine that seems equal parts "YMCA" by the Village People and "Third Period Gym Class" by every junior high student over the past 20 years.

As far as dancing ability among tennis players goes, I'll reserve the right to assign my score to Sharapova for later, considering the source material she had to work with.

Still, she's a long way from Venus and Serena's impromptu "You Got Served" routine from last year.
