Prince's Princess Dethroned?

Only the keenest eye would have noticed the strange racquet Maria Sharapova was playing with at the 2010 French Open. It didn’t have the familiar “P” stenciled on the racquet, Prince’s trademark. The racquet also had no writing on the neck, and it was painted all black.

What’s going on here? Did Prince and Sharapova break up? Of course not. They’re still going steady.

When one of Prince’s rep was questioned about it, he said that she’s using “…experimental frames over the next few months in practice and actual competition,” and that some racquets that she’ll be testing won’t be carried on their line yet.

The Prince rep refused to comment or go into more detail on the new racquet. As a matter of fact, he wouldn’t even confirm that it was actually a Prince racquet. Maybe Sharapova was doing some research across companies?

“Sorry, can’t comment on any products/technologies that Prince is having Maria test as part of our playtest program with her,” the rep wrote.

Personally, I think it’s a Head YouTek Radical Pro…
