Roger Federer Barely Slips By

Yesterday’s first round of Wimbledon was certainly a wild one. You already know how Roger Federer came back from a 2 set deficit to win the match, but how do you feel about it?

Federer played Alejandro Falla of Colombia. At the end of the second set, Falla was 1 game, 4 points, away from pulling off the biggest upset in Wimbledon history. The match went into the fifth set with Federer finally pulling it out and winning the match in the end. Even though he won, it shouldn’t have even been close.

Falla is ranked number 60 in the world, while Federer is ranked the number 1 tennis player in the world. The match should’ve ended in 3 sets. This match just further showed that Federer is slowly losing his amazing skill that he once had. A number 1 seed should be able to destroy a number 60 seed very quickly. Like someone said in an earlier blog, “Roger Federer’s years of invincibility are over.” He’s good, but he used to be better.

Yes, I understand Federer still won in the end but it wasn’t easy, and plus that’s what should happen. And just because something that should  happen did happen does not mean that it deserves any special praise.

Oh, and Falla was also playing with a groin injury.
