Serena Williams doesn’t have much free time left in her hands. If she’s not playing her matches in Wimbledon she’s training for it. But lately something else has come up that she needs to practice for. The defending Wimbledon champion from last year and top ranked women’s tennis player in the world has something bigger to worry about: her curtsy.
Queen Elizabeth II will be visiting the All England Club tomorrow, and Serena needs to go in to overtime to practice and perfect her curtsy. Forget practicing for tennis, the main reason why she’s there, she needs to practice the way she bends her knees.
After her win against Michelle Larcher de Brito in the first round of Wimbledon, Williams took advantage of the time to get some practice in a public setting, but she wasn’t impressed with herself.
“I think I flubbed it, so I’m definitely going to work on it a little more,” she said.
Apparently she did some customizing of her curtsy too.
“But my curtsy is really fun. It’s something that she’ll definitely never forget. I’m looking forward to nailing it.”
