Time to see what tennis stars are saying after last night's upsets and victories.

Tennis great Andre Agassi was nominated for the Hall of Fame yesterday, much to Justin Gimelstob’s approval.
“Agassi nominated 4 Hall of Fame, can you say, 100% approval?!!! #fb”

Ouch, no internets at your hotel Mr.Gilbert, what will you do? Oh wait, use your phone like everyone else. But it is nice to see him taking the heat like a champ.
“24hrs down for my hotel internet is a crusher. 4th consecutive day of blazing heat! Bring it on!”

Whoa, breaking news, Anna Lena Groenefeld involved in a bus crash.
“A little car crash this morning! Got hit by a bus but everybody is ok! New experience jumping over from lane to lane on the highway!”

Wonder if Edina Gallovits was on the highway behind Groenefeld. Won’t they have a lot to talk about in the pro-room.
“Left the hotel 30 min ago and still stuck in traffic in manhattan ... will I make my match?? Sure hope so “

Janko
had to deal with some horrible press last night. Apparently he was quoted as saying “that Roddick was a better player when he was younger.” When in reality he said “if he thinks to win another Grand Slam tittle he needs to go for a bit more on his shots. Like he did when he was younger...” Is this any better though? “No, I didn’t insult him; I just gave pointers on how he can play better, right after I beat him.”

Love is all around between doubles partners Daniela Hantuchova “ and Caroline Wozniacki. Hantuchova tweeted “After my singles I went to play doubles. It was quick, we won 60 62. It's always fun to play with Caroline and that's what doubles is about.” While Wozniacki tweets “Daniela and I won the doubles 6-0 6-2. She is such a nice partner, love playing with her!” Awwww.

Look who's at the US Open
With New York Fashion Week quickly approaching, the stars came out in a wide variety last night for the Roddick vs. Tipsarevic match.
Tennis is indeed a fashionable affair, with the Venus and Serena Williams taking every opportunity to showcase their “designs,” and now Maria Sharapova holding events to debut her attire, tonight will also be the first time she wears her night dress on the court. But who knew fashionista’s and gossiping hipsters got into the sport as well?

At last night’s Andy Roddick vs. Janko Tipsarevic match, the stars came out, whether in support of the players or merely to seen has yet to be determined. But the most head scratching attendee of them all, my favorite Tweetie, was Kanye West. Taking a break from shooting a top secret movie in Prague that will accompany his 5th, currently untitled, LP, West decided to take in a little bit of tennis last night. Accompanied by model and former Celebrity Apprentice contestant Selita Eubanks, the two took in the Roddick upset in true Corey Hart fashion from behind their “sunglasses at night.” Surprisingly, the guy in shades didn’t masquerade, last reference to the song, promise, with anyone and remained relatively quiet for the match.
Wearing a demure blue striped shirt and white pants West has previously admitted be a sports fan and have been previously spotted at, former, New Jersey Nets games.  The rapper was also there when basketball player Lebron James made his “decision” to leave the Cleveland Cavaliers and move to South Beach to try his luck at a title with the Miami Heat, a team now synonymous with the US Open thanks to Roddick admitting that he’s a die-hard fan.
Also sharing a box with him were Gossip Girl stars and, on-again-off-again couple, Ed Westwick and Jessica Szohr, apparently they’re on again. Showing no problems with PDA, Szohr had no problems with potentially offending “The West” by sitting on Westwick’s lap. Who knew tennis brought out the friskier side of people?

Ultimately, if there to support Andy Roddick, the stars were let down as Roddick was defeated by Tipsarevic in 3-6, 7-5, 6-3, 7-6. It is expected that this weekend and all of next week stars will begin to turn out in wide numbers for the Open as September 9 marks the beginning of the spring 2011 fashion week.

What were they thinking?
Venus Williams took to the court on Wednesday in her victory over Rebecca Marino. But it seems that fans everywhere were surprised less by her struggles on the court and more by her outfit.
After watching Venus Williams struggle, at times, to the finish line in her 7-6, 6-3 victory over Rebecca Marino, what seemed the most surprising were the amount of tennis fans that were less focused on the points of the game and were distracted by Venus’s choice in tennis attire.

While rule pushing is generally left up to the younger Williams sister, Serena, as of recent, Venus has been getting more involved with the risquĂ© nature of fashion. Wearing a her infamous,  black lace overlay, with flesh toned lining, to give the illusion of being see-through, and bright red trim on the bodice, to the 2010 French Open, she topped a great deal of fashion “don’t” list, whether they related to tennis or not.

But Williams, as expected, isn’t the only player to take to the courts in an eye catching number that made fans cringe more so than squeal.

Despite her outstanding performance against Barbora Zahlavova Strycova, winning 7-5, 6-4, Maria Kirilenko didn’t do the one thing necessary when trying out a new fashion trend, “ask somebody.” Falling prey to the awful bubble bottom hem, Kirilenko succeeded in looking like a small child with a full diaper.

Martina Hinigis surprised a lot of fans when taking the court in this futuristic Adidas top. It’s as if she couldn’t decide whether she would get hot or cold during the match, the solution to this dilemma wear both a long and short sleeve at the same time.

Photo Courtesty of: The Daily Beast
In his book "Open" Andre Agassi admitted to doing drugs and at one time hating the game of tennis. Yet, in this recount of his career, he didn’t address being the creator of “Jorts” as sportswear. This should be taken with pride, Andre, don’t try and distance yourself from this trend, hold it up with pride like a denim clad badge of honor.

Lastly, there’s my favorite fashionably challenged player, Bethanie Mattek-Sands. Her kooky duds have ranged from gladiator to the amazon. Constantly pushing limits, the one thing that has to be admired about Mattek is her lack of care as to what fans or non-fans think of her apparel. Though, I hope she doesn’t follow suit of Venus Williams or Maria Sharapova and start a line, tennis clubs don’t deserve to have mom’s attack their courts in outfits like these.

Pet of the Day: Racist?
We've been on a racist rant as of late, finding all the inequalities in the game of tennis but even this made us ask "seriously?"
Upon Googling a the words "Serena Williams Pet," I was surprised to learn that the younger Williams doesn't seem to showcase her pooches as often as her older sister, Venus. But what seemed the most bizarre was the question asked of this photo.

Found on BahamaIssues.com forum the image seems to have a bit of controversy attached with it. The author of this post believes that there is a large issue with the brown and white spotted dog being placed on the floor and over looked because it’s not a pristine white like the dog placed in her arms.

In the description, it says

“Here she is holding up a white dog. With a brown and white spotted dog on the floor, with the horizon overlooking. Is there a twinge of racism?”

As the Lleyton Hewitt racist rant begins to make its turn on the internet again, it’s easy to jump to conclusions; especially with a sport like tennis that’s not typically associated with multiple ethnicities. However, in this case, I think calling for a racist outcry is a stretch. As most of us know, dogs are temperamental animals, especially when being asked to pose nicely for a photo. There are a lot of reasonable circumstances for why the spotted dog is placed behind Williams. The biggest being, the dog she’s holding could’ve been less agitated with being held. All the reasons aside, say the “race card” for when it’s actually necessary rather than seeming like the boy who’s trying to cry wolf.

Neon Assination of the Eyes
Neon is hot, white hot, right now but is it too much of a good thing?

2010 has been a summer of color. No longer is it time to stay mum with the hues you wear, the louder the better, it seems. Why be “beige” when you could be a vibrant orange or a yellow so bright the planets could become confused and revolve around you. Yes, neon and fluorescents are a good addition to your summertime wardrobe even while on the courts. But when is this need to showcase your dazzling personality going too far?

This week at the Open, Nadia Petrova wore a daring array of colors, all seeming to pull from the subtractive color pallete; magenta, cyan, and yellow.

Though bold and a visual festival of color, this outfit made her appear like the brightest crayon the court, but not necessarily the brightest one in the box, if you catch my drift. There’s a time, place, and way to do these things. Like in the case of Venus Williams, wearing a halter only to have your bra-straps out, that’s like wearing socks with sandals-which if you do this, stop, it’s not right either be okay with bare feet or wear shoes.

But back on to the issue at hand, the proper usage of neon takes a great deal of subtlety, a silicone gel bracelet here a la “Livestrong,” a brightly colored pair of shoelaces there. If you’re feeling truly adventurous, you could even where neon yellow shorties.

But keep in mind, when the man that brought this brightly color eyestrain upon us all, Rafael Nadal, begins to pull back with his usage, it’s time for others to do the same. If you’re not running at night or landing an airplane, then keep it quiet. Deciding to damage the eyes of others for your fashions taste isn’t right.

Twitter Roundup
All the best from your favorite players.

It’s a bad day when even you know you were off. Jelena Jankovic noticed she was playing with her C-game,
“Today an off day. Will do an morning practice and then back to the house to relax. It looks like there is a storm coming.”

Michaella Krajicek wasn’t threatened by the category…hurricane she flew through this morning.
“Left N.Y. early this morning and am back in Florida! But must say the first hour of the flight was pretty bouncy due to hurricane Earl.. pff”
She’s fearless.

Commentator Brad Gilbert is giving his vote as to who is one of the best unknown talents at the open.
Elena D, best player never to win a Slam, is flying under the radar and no one really talking about her. i think that's a good thing for her.”

Seems like former champ, Lindsay Davenport, was enjoying her time working for Entertainment Tonight, even after an unfortunate accident which caused her to bleed. None the less, she re-tweeted these photos taken by Kevin Frazier.

Note to self if ever out to dinner with Fernando Verdasco, must let him pay.
“Nice dinner but my fucking friends didn't let me to pay and I'm so pissed off!”

Responding to Janko Tipsarevic fascination with creating different names for himself at Starbucks,

Bryan Brother Bob tweeted back
“ Since I was also BOB yesterday, today I had to be” and this photo

Tipsarevic tweeted back this morning with
“Since I was Bob yesterday I had to be”

Aww…I smell a budding bro-tweet-mance in the making. Mike better jump in before he’s left behind.

The Husbands and Boyfriends of Tennis part 1

If you thought the men had hot wives, check out what the women of the WTA are going home to.

WAG's seem to be everywhere these days. During the World Cup there was an article about them everywhere. Even during the US Open, Brooklyn Decker was mentioned followed by the camera cutting to her during every one of her husband,Andy Roddicks, matches. Yet, there's very little being said about the women of tennis and their HAB's. husbands and boyfriends. These overlooked hotties remain silently overlooked because they can't seem to fill out a swimsuit quite like a WAG can nor would they look as good. But overlooked they will go no longer. Say it loud boys, "I'm a tennis HAB and I'm proud."

Ana Ivanovic and Gisela Dulko share one very spicy commonality, Fernando Verdasco. Both players at one time or anotherhave been romantically linked to the tennis Lothario.

Maria Sharapova soared to a 6-0, 6-0 straight set win over Beatrice Capra today. Not only bringing her best game with her to the US Open, but she also brought her boyfriend, the LA Lakers shapoint guard Sasha Vujacic with her.

Jelena Jankovic may have lost to Kaia Kanepi, 6-2, 7-6, but in her native Serbia she and boyfriend Mladjan Janovic are a top couple to see.

Despite of all of these players off the court romances, the one that takes the cake is Martina Hingis. The former superstar may have fallen off the radar but her love life seems to not be in any trouble.

Too close for comfort or just plain too tight?
Venus Williams tennis game seemed to suffer greatly in her match over Shanar Peer. A lot of analyst are saying that the reason may have been Williams choice of dress.

While top players Rafael Nadal and Kim Clijsters sailed to easy and uncomplicated wins over their competition, third seeded Venus Williams seems to pick and fidget her way to victory over Shahar Peer, 7-6, 6-3. Through out her entire match Williams seemed to picke at her dress and struggle through her entire match Sunday. Only managing to get 48 percent of her first serves in, the top blame was placed on her choice of tennis attire.

Tennis fans have always been vocal about their love/hate relationship with the clothing Williams chooses to wear on the court but this was one of the first times commentators got in on the debate; repeatedly questioning if Williams dress was too tight and impeding her ability to play at her best. After facing six break points and losing three, she wasted five chances to wrap up the first set in a 22-point 12th game, and even after being asked if the dress was to blame, Williams still said “no,” placing blame only on herself. As for the stiff little number in question, a red version of the black, sequined dress she wore two nights prior, it definitely brought the typical Williams sense of style to the court. However, all though it highlighted her sense of style and design well, was it really worth the time spent during the match tugging to keep it at thigh level? Shouldn’t the number one point of a design be to provide comfort to your client, who in this case was herself? Hopefully in her quarterfinal match against, No. 6 Francesca Schiavone, Williams will bring her best game or at least a bigger dress.

Twitter Round Up
Giving you all the news in the Twitterverse from your favorite players.
Whoa, former tennis great Greg Rusedski is lucky to still be alive. Facing a close encounter with fan, Ellen Degeneres and her wife Portia Derossi-Degeneres, Rusedski was lucky to remain unscathed.

“Ellen degenres, former american idol and her partner, nearly knocked me over with all the security, still alive barely, fed on tonight 2am”

Despite being excluding from the Davis Cup, the Bryan Brothers seem to be fine. Showing more pride for having worked with Patrick McEnroe, the, now, former captain and leader of their team.

“We're sad to hear our captain & leader, @patrickmcenroe, is stepping down from Davis Cup. His loyalty, hardwork, and dedication were the reasons we loved playing for him and the reasons the team was successful. He'll be greatly missed but we understand his decision and wish him luck in his campaign to improve US Tennis. #fb

Clearly an inside joke that’s being missed, or maybe just wasted, by us.
“RT @Illiniballa24 At First You Didn't Mean That Much To Me...But Now I Know That Your All I Need! (did ur GF steal Ur phone and wrote this?)“

Anastasia Rodionova takes a small moment to voice a complaint with the the hotel service provided at the Open, making this the second tweet in two weeks from a player complaining about a late car.

“For the 4th time the car is late to pick me up from hotel and the funniest thing is- they ask u every time if u have a match or not.”

Fernando Verdasco gives us a 140 character movie review of the new George Clooney film. “The American.”

The movie its over and I didn't like it! So slow and with nothing special!

Maybe if Caroline Wozniacki had given John Isner pointers he would’ve been more successful over Mikhail Youzhny, 6-4, 6-7, 7-6, 6-4

@CaroWozniacki wanna teach me how to only lose 3 games in 3 matches woz?”

Pet of the day: Andy Murray
Quite possibly the cutest dog.

The honor of pet of the day goes to Andy Murray’s former pooch Maggie. Named after Rod Stewarts “Maggie May,” a song that takes a page from the film “The Graduate” and has a lot to do with an older woman seducing a much younger man. The Border terrier at one time was said to have helped keep Murray calm in the 2008 Wimbledon tournament However, after the break up from long time girlfriend Kim Sears, possibly due to what Sears called a “seven-hour-a-day PlayStation 3 addiction" on Murrays part, he apparently gave all rights and ownership over to his ex.

Maybe it was from the lack of loving of this little lady that caused Murray to be the big upset yesterday after a 6-7, 7-6, 6-3, 6-3, four-set loss to Stanislas Wawrinka. Fans hoped to see a Rafael Nadal vs. Murray match up, as Murray has always been one of Nadal’s toughest competitors, but the Scottish all-court counterpuncher didn’t seem to have it in him. After his loss at the Australian Open against Roger Federer hasn’t played his best strain of tennis, appearing vulnerable and susceptible to errors.

Star Struck
Celebrites have come out in a large number at this years US Open.

Celebrating the unofficial end of summer, fans watching the center court men's singles match between Roger Federer of Switzerland and Jurgen Melzer of Austria at the 2010 U.S. Open in New York City were treated to a great round of tennis action and a great deal of celebrity sightings. For years famous fans have taken to the seats in Arthur Ashe Stadium and cheered on the best in tennis. Though no one will be able to top last weeks Kanye West sighting, fans at last nights No. 7 seed Vera Zvonareva and Andrea Petkovic match are still noteworthy.

On Saturday, Yankees super-star shortstop Derek Jeter, 36, has had his fair share of celebrity arm candy in the past, Mariah Carey, Jessica Biel, Vanessa Minnillo, Jordana Brewster just to name a few. Jeter was spotted during the No. 3 seed Novak Djokovic and James Blake match getting cozy with his girlfriend since 2008, actress Minka Kelly, 30. Also, in attendance that night were New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning and NBA Hall of Famer Isiah Thomas and LPGA Paula Creamer.

While on Sunday, actor and all around funny guy Will Ferell attended the…match with his wife. In the stands as well was actor Ethan Hawke and actress Sandra Bernhard. By Monday, Ferell still couldn’t get enough tennis and came back for both the day and night session. 2010 makes for the…year that Ferell has attended the US Open.

For Tuesday’s night session between No. 13 seed Jurgen Melzer and No. 2 seed Roger Federer, actress Cameron Diaz was seen sharing a laugh with Ashlee Simpson and her husband, Pete Wentz. Sitting away from girlfriend, Cameron Diaz, New York Yankees heartbreaking baseman Alex Rodriguez was instead spotted next to tennis legend Mary Jo Fernandez.

Deeper in the action were Gwen Stefani and hubby Gavin Rossdale. Publically known for being good friends of Federer, Stefani and Rossdale cheered the superstar on from his personal box.

Melzer appeared to be no match for Federer, losing every set. Federer took assistance from the net in the second-set tiebreaker and showed his top game in the tiebreaker. He’s considered one of the most dangerous players in tournament. Now Federer will play against no. 5 Robin Soderling, who has completed 23 successive Grand Slam semi-finals.

Twitter Roundup
All the latest news in the Twitterverse.
Some people are just divas, but this pretty much takes the cake. Greg Rusedski tweeted the prima donna habits of presenter Marcus Buckland.
“Marcus buckland complaining about american loos, to many gaps in the door? Who is he looking at?” Now he is complaining the loos are too high off the ground. He needs a latter to get on”

Venus Williams has backing support from commentator Brad Gilbert going into today’s match against Francesca Schiavone.
“Love Venus, she's 7-0 against the Italian.”

The competition never stops, not only is Caroline Wozniacki number one in the world, but she now more popular then fellow tennis player John Isner.
“@johnisnertennis I now officially have more followers than u, so u can't big time me anymore! (he might still find a way)”

Work never seems to stop for player Marcos Baghdatis. After his 6-3 2-6 1-6 6-4 7-5 loss to Arnaud Clement, he deserves his vacation.
“Arrived home yesterday... have 2 more days to relax and on Thursday back to work again ....:)”

Sleeping alone for the evening, Fernando Verdasco gets philosophical before bed.
“Today is one of this days that u get in bed and u think " how good is been in bed" so nice! Going to sleep really deep today! Does anyone thinks I'm addicted to tweeting?!?!”
And later tweeting
“Who knows with who I will dream tonight.....”

Janko Tipsarevic isn’t letting his 6-7, 7-6, 2-6, 4-6, defeat to Gael Monfils keep him down.
“2 glasses of wine and I am dead drunk...Not in form...:(

The story of this little pooch was too good to pass up.

Every good entourage needs a little person close out the pack, right? Players like Serena Williams and her sister Venus let this esteemed position go to the dogs, literally. However, today’s “Pet of the Day” comes from player Elena Baltacha and after her experience with this little cutie, I doubt she’ll be adding a pet to her followers anytime soon. After a close 6-7, 3-6 loss to Petra Kvitova at the US Open, the Brit seemed excited to be returning home. Though he or she is not actually owned by Baltacha, the story of this little pooch behind her encounter with this little pooch was too good to pass up. While on a train in London, Baltacha was seated next to this little cutie. However, possibly from getting the excitement over being on the train next to Baltacha, the puppy couldn’t contain himself and relieved himself on the seat. Baltacha took his photo and tweeted for everyone to see “This dog has just peed on the seat!!well done..train stinks!x” Popularity comes in strange ways, maybe this dog will be able to parlay this into becoming the next Taco Bell dog or an IAMs dog food spokesdog?

Take it off already and put something else on.
In her 7-6 (5), 6-4 win over Francesca Schiavone, Venus Williams played a dazzling game of tennis, it was almost hard to be distracted. Almost.

There has been a lot of great tennis played at this year’s US Open, after last night Rafael Nadal vs. Feliciano Lopez match, which lasted until 1:15a.m., the internet has been ablaze with comments and discussion over who will win it all. For the women, there is a lot of weight placed on the shoulders of Venus Williams, now the only American left in the Open. In her match against Francesca Schiavone, Williams showed the drive and tenacity of previous years and was able to advance with a 7-6 (5), 6-4 win into the quarterfinals where she’ll play defending champion Kim Clijsters.

Though Williams was in top form last night, there has been one very distracting matter working against her throughout the Open, those dresses. Its fashion week in New York, and I can see the rationale in choosing to express your design capabilities more at this moment than any other, but seriously?

A rhinestone firework design on your flesh toned shorts? That’s not style, that’s somewhere near the Hades of fashion, a cold dark place that lies between tacky and stripper. You’re not walking onto a dance floor, Venus. The only thing you’ll be dropping, popping, and locking are points, aces, and wins. This is tennis, Williams, and if it were at all possible to issue a fashion fatwa on you, it would be so ordered.

The lack of aesthetic appeal aside, they’re also not very practical. In both her day and night dresses, Williams has been forced to tug, pull, and adjust which has lead to a lot of speculation that her reason for so many forced errors are because of the clothes not the person in them. In her match against Shahar Peer CBS began a tug count, she reached 42. From consumer stand point, watching the designer and spokesperson fidget around the court during one of the biggest tournaments of the year isn’t going to sell the product. Get it together.

Everyone's sick of the comparisons between these two great players. But channeling their inner Melanie Oudin, they've stepped onto the court in a pair of original shoes. But who has the better one?
Walking onto the court tonight, Roger Federer will undoubtedly come to do what everyone expects of him, win. This is the champion’s 10th appearance at the US Open and a final victory in New York City would give him a 17 grand slam title, furthering his record breaking and bar setting career. Though the Swiss virtually remains “mum” with his tennis apparel, there has been one subtle addition to his US Open attire, the New York skyline.

Looking as if his shoes were bought at a store in Brooklyn or Harlem, Federer has successfully managed to pay homage to the city he’s in.
Could this sudden burst in to fashion be because he has one of the worlds top fashion leaders in his phonebook? At the Nike Primetime Knockout benefit Federer admitted to seeking fashion counsel from Vogue’s Anna Wintour. Thought these shoes seem a little more Jay-Z and a little less Anna, they’re still very nice.
On the other side of men’s tennis, there’s Rafael Nadal. A player that has been challenging rules in men’s tennis apparel, and men’s clothing in general, for years. Staring his career looking more like a Spanish pirate in clamdiggers and at the 2010 French Open like all he needed was a whistle and he could go straight from the match to a rave, there is no fashion rule that Rafa won’t break. However, as of late, he’s found that balance between European and just Euro-trash.

Wearing for the Open his NIKE Men`s Air Max Courtballistec Tennis Shoes. A shoe that is so bright in its Gatorade-green color that it’s advisable to wear sunglasses just to look at them.

Who has the better shoe?
I call a draw. Both shoes are practical for both on the court and off, while showing off the similarities in both men.

Twitter Round-Up
Giving you all the news in the Twitterverse from your favorite players.
Furthering the strange obsession with his sleep and a need to let everyone know about it, last night winner Fenando Verdasco tweeted

“Good morning friends! How are u today? I'm already going to the courts, its a beautiful day in NY! I sleep unbelievable! U?”

Verdasco had a close call last night in his match against David Ferrer. The end result of their impressive match showed Verdasco as the winner, 5-7, 6-7, 6-3, 6-3, 7-6.

We must all applaud Venus Williams in her ability to take no notice to what is being said about her tennis apparel. Tweeting

“Has anyone checked out my eleven dress on gilt.com/eleven? They're so cute don't miss out!”

That takes class to not respond to the harsh comments, now if only she put that into her tennis apparel.

Hope Robin Soderling is eating his Wheaties this morning. He’ll need all the help he can get in his match against Roger Federer tonight.

“Back from the same old breakfast place. Gonna hit the gym and then getting some rest. I'm on Arthur Ashe 2nd match after 7 p.m.”

Thank you, Marcos Bagdahtis, it’s nice to see that guys over 23 years of age get asked this question as frequently as women.
“Just finished a press conference in my home town, most popular question asked today : Are you getting Married ??????????????????? :)))“

No.1 seed Caroline Wozniacki is getting her head ready for tomorrow match against Dominika Cibulkova. And what better way to get pumped up than enjoying Vogue’s Fashion Night Out?
“Getting ready for #FNO Runway Show. I'm wearing an Angel Sanchez dress, Kara Ross jewels, Stuart Weitzman shoes and my fave Rolex watch!!

Pet of the day

Kateryna Bondarenko’s time at the US Open has come to an end, coming to two easy wins in the first round in the Open, in both the Women’s Singles and Women’s Doubles Tournament. Her victory, however, was short-lived; receiving a second round loss of the women’s singles tournament to No.7 seed Dominika Cibulkova, 6 -2 , 7 -67, 5 -79  and women’s doubles with her sister Alona at the hands of Liezel Huber and Nadia Petrova.

This doesn’t mean that there aren’t still some nice things to say about Bondarenko, she has a lovely little puppy. The Chihuahua named princess is a member of the Bondarenko gang often travelling and even being on the court with her owner. Though this may seem new, dogs touring with female tennis players has been a behind the scene occurrence for years. One of the first players to bring her dog on tour with her was Françoise DĂ¼rr, even allowing Topspin; an Airedale terrier, to carry her racket onto the court for her.

Yes, Bondarenko’s time at the Open may be over, but at least she has this little cutie to help her cushion the defeat.

Twitter Round-Up
Giving you all the news in the Twitterverse from your favorite players.
What is it with this guy and inviting the world into his bed? Yet another night of Fernando Verdasco wishing for us all to have a “good night.”

"Just back at the hotel after dinner, going straight to bed! It was a nice day of relax and recovery!"

Caroline Wozniacki is becoming tennis’ new “it” girl. Yet despite all the hype she still remain humble and even manages to send out a thank you to the special guest in her box at last night’s victory against Dominika Cibulkova.
“Won my match today 6-2 7-5 against Cibulkova. Now ready for the Semifinals! Mr Trump and his wife came and supported me in the box!”
“That was a great honor to have them there :)”

Janko Tipsarevic is in serious training for the Davis Cup. Managing only to take a minute to tweet out this photo, he is one dedicated athlete.

The rumor mill has been swirling around player Donald Young this morning. Apparently he’s not too pleased with the selection of Ryan Harrison for the United StatesDavis Cup team instead of him.

Young posted on Twitter:

"I just want to know if its based off of ranking and performance why Harrison gets chosen for the 4 man Davis Cup team before me?"

Pet of the day

Today’s pet of the day comes from US Open No.2 seed Kim Clijsters. As of 2009, Kim Clijsters was getting the hang of retirement and motherhood. After the death of her father, however, Clijsters began to play the game she thought she hated again, if only for an escape, Nine months later, she went on to beat Serena Williams during the U.S. Open semifinals and became the first mom since 1980 to win the Open trophy.
The proud owner of not one by five dog’s, Clijsters is an avid pet lover. Admitting to Oprah Magazine that she believes owners are great deal like their pets.

“Sometimes I feel like my Great Dane, who has so much energy he doesn't know what to do with it. But I've learned how to be lazy on the couch once in a while, which comes naturally to my English bulldogs. They never get stressed.”

For this photo she and husband Brian Lynch showcase the pairs pet bulldogs as a bride and groom. Released only one day after the two tied the knot, this photo worked well as a wedding announcement.
Another photo is the illustrious Great Dane, Diesel that Clijsters mentioned to “O.” Bringing him out for a photo shoot with UK’s You! Magazine, Clijsters and pooch posed together.

Here's a video of the photo shoot.

Twitter Round-Up
Giving you all the news in the Twitterverse from your favorite players.
Commentator Brad Gilbert has been busy this morning, putting in his predictions for who will come out on top of ladies day at the US Open.

“Ladies Day! Waza has been the form player-Vera Z is nothin' but great value. I'm leaning toward the guile of Waza in 2 tight sets.”

“The Heavy Weight-2nd semifinal-KimmieC vs Venus-at the start of the tourney I was worried about V with the knee...seems to hv found her form”

Following in similar fashion, commentator Greg Rusedski gives his picks for the women’s final. No love for Venus.

“Women semi wozniak and clijsters to get to final, but venus will put up a great fight against kim.”

Vera Zvonereva is getting ready for today’s battle against Caroline Wozniacki by…taking photo’s next to her dream car? We all have our special pre-game rituals, I suppose.
Zvonereva standing by dream car “Playing my Semifinal match later today and getting ready to warm-up but had to share a photo of me and my dream car which I saw yesterday morning outside my hotel. Love the color of this Maybach.”

After last night's 7-5, 6-3, 6-4 loss against Rafael Nadal, you’d think the last thing Fernando Verdasco would have to do today is defend himself. At least he’s not talking about sleep anymore.

“To all the people who thinks that I said that rafa is going to loss again federer, that's not true! I just said that the conditions here are Better for federer because the ball and the court its fast! And federer likes this conditions more than rafa I think! But of course I prefer Rafa to win this us.open! He is my friend, he is spanish and he deserved so much!

Totally jealous of the Bryan Bros, this looks amazing.

Pet of the day
Can you say affenpinscher three times fast?
justine henin with dog
Justine Henin is a world renowned tennis player, having achieved success on all court surfaces, winning 4 French Open titles; this accomplishment has made her the most successful female clay court player for the last decade. In 2008, Henin announced her immediate retirement from professional tennis and even went so far to ask the Women's Tennis Association, WTA, to remove her name from the rankings immediately, despite being World No.1 at that time. In 2009, after 16 months of retirement, Henin announced her decision to return to tennis at least until the 2012 Summer Olympics.

In today’s pet of the day, we’re featuring Henin and her affenpinscher, Deuce. This terrier-esque dog is a toy breed, typically found in Germany. Its name comes from the German word “Affe” for monkey, hence its nickname, monkey dog.

Belgium's Justine Henin poses with her dog, after a press conference, in Limelette, Belgium, Wednesday Sept. 23, 2009. Former No. 1 Justine Henin has announced her return to competitive tennis for next year. Henin had been retired for just over a year, but at 27 she says has the fire and physical strength to compete for an eighth Grand Slam title.

Tennis minds in the gutter?
The US Open has brought out the best and the worst in players and fans alike. Attire aside, I've got to ask, where's the decency?
When seeing the new rising stars of tennis, it's hard to think back to yesterday when women went onto the court, practically, wearing pantsuits out of fear of indecency. There's no doubt that at this years US Open had Jelena Jokovic, who so gracefully let everyone know she was overheated by placing fresh ice packs on her head during her match against Simona Halep, would've gone down as quickly as Victoria Azarenka.
Yes, women have moved forward and have figured out the perfect balance between fashionable and practical. Outfits that can be worn on the court and at the juice bar after the match. However, in light of recent matches, where the more fashionable players seem to be having more trouble with the lengths of their skirts than the others, one has to ask "how high is too high?"
As a fashion maven, I understand that skin is always in. No matter the part, every year there is always a place on the body that is high lighted more than others. At this year’s US Open, it seems to be all about the legs. With players bearing their gams for all to see, but do we really need to see all of that? Like most women, I enjoy my shorts, and yes, sometimes they are a little...unconservative? I am a firm believer that Jorts should stop somewhere closer to mid-thigh than mid-knee. But unless I'm planning on hopping through the window of a car with Bo and Duke, they're not as "all bearing" as what I've seeing on the court lately.
One player who surprisingly has skirted by is Caroline Wozniacki. The new face of Stella Mccartney for Adidas has played gloriously throughout the entire open. And unlike Williams, the practicality of her attire can be seen in her game as she has never seemed too constricted to place herself wherever necessary on the court to gain her points. However, I may be alone in this, but there seemed to be one to many moments where I could see London, France, and Wozniacki's nail matching Yellow shorties. I'm all for the new experience with sports where a fan can really get to know their favorite player through social media tools like Twitter and Facebook, but I don't really need to be in Caro's business like that. Advantage: definitely male tennis fans.
The same can be said of Rafael Nadal who has garnered attention for tugging of his own. Maybe it’s a subconscious thing for men, like looking at another woman’s outfit and trying to guess the price is for women, but in this case why did no one remind Nadal that he was on television? Making, whatever he was attempting, be it adjusting his “breadstick” or fixing his underwear visible to everyone watching. What’s going on with in his Fruit of the Looms needs to stay in the locker room.
Maybe it’s prudish to ask for a longer skirt and to not “clean your line” on court. One thing is for sure, the pair will undoubtedly keep pushing the limits no matter what happens.

“Rocking out at twickenham at help for heroes concert..great cause! James blunt up now”

Aside from his dad wearing his face across his chest, Novak Djokovic also has a lot of support from his fellow Serb, Janko Tipsarevic.

We all have those moments, the ones where mom yells out how much she loves you in front of the coolest kids in school. Or no matter where you are on the court you can always hear your dad yelling your name from the stands. But somehow all that seems not quire as outlandish as this.
Fans across the world have grown to get used to seeing Novak Djokovic's chiseled features. But the reason it’s only from his, phenomenal 5-7, 6-1, 5-7, 6-2, 7-5, win over Roger Federer at the US Open Men’s Semifinals but from his father, Srdjan. The proud dad seems to have suffered no qualms over entering Arthur Ashe Stadium 6 times with his son’s face emblazoned across his chest.

Though most can easily call upon a cringe inducing moment at the hands of their parents, this could definitely make a top 5 list. At least most of ours were in front of our friends not the entire world.

When asked about the shirt, Djokovic responded with:

“'He's a proud father, what can I say? I don't know exactly where he got his fancy shirt -- it was somewhere in Belgrade--
but he's my father and, if he wants to wear this shirt, he can wear this shirt. I would never wear the shirt. I don't like myself that much."

The headshot tee is only the latest stunt from this family who have been caught before at the 2008 Australian Open wearing shirts that spell out 'N-O-L-E.'

Djokovic is expected to take the court some time today against No.1 seed Rafael Nadal. The two were delayed yesterday due to rain, making this the third year in a row that a men’s final has been delayed due to the weather. The match has been rescheduled for today, Monday, at 4p.m. EST.

Pet of the day
Todays pet of the day brought up an important question, do men carry Louie Vouitton bags?
Today’s pet of the day comes from No.3 seed Novak Djokovic. Pulling off a feat that no one expected, Djokovic came out victorious over No.2 seed Roger Federer in the US Open Men’s Semifinals. The two have battled it out before, with Federer generally coming out the victor, winning 8 out of the last 14 matches they’ve played.

The 23 year old Serb faces tough competition in the finals against Rafael Nadal, losing 12 out of the 19 times they’ve faced one another. Statistically, going into today’s match, the odds are in favor of Nadal (2/5), but these have gone down considerably due to the rain and Djokovic getting the chance to rest up.

But on to the bigger issues at hand, first, in all of the excitement of his victory there is one member of Djoker’s toadies that seems to have been overlooked; his little bowwow Pierre.

The canine comes from the Bichon Frise family, a breed of dogs known for being both playful and very affectionate.

The next issue comes from what is seated in Djokovic’s lap in this photo, a Louis Vuitton travel bag. Why has Djoker never admitted to liking the finer things, especially when it comes to travel wear? This goes to show that not all male athletes are mannish and can enjoy the luxuries in life. Besides, if Louie V is good enough for Vogue editor-at-large Andre Leon Talley, it’s certainly adequate for Nole.

The US Open may be over, but that doesn't mean we can't still reminisce over the fashion worn by the women during the tournament.
It’s over. Rafael Nadal and Kim Clijsters came out on top, in case you were unaware. Both champions took top honors with their choice in tennis apparel, Kim in Fila’s Center Court line, all of which was flattering to her shape, and Rafa in a subdued black with neon yellow contrast for Nike. Yes, there was indeed a lot of apparel showcased at the US Open but not all of it was for the best, nor will, or should it, be sold in stores. We’ve got the best and worst women’s fashion offenders of the Open.

Let’s just knock her out right away. Venus Williams showed a great deal of effort at the Open this year. By making it all the way to the semifinals only to be knocked out by defending champion, Kim Clijsters, she went further than some predicted she would because of her recurring knee injury. Yet, when next years open comes around and they’re doing a montage of 2010, there’s a large chance that it won’t be her “effort” that’s showcased, but her choice in tennis wear.

Making newspapers around the world, Williams received a lot of press for her original designs, inspired by New York itself. How sweet. Though I doubt of all the ways that New York would choose to be represented nude colored undershorts with rhinestone embellishment is not one of them. Step away from the bedazzler, Venus. You’re not someone’s mom trying to “jazz up” a drill team uniform or make a denim jacket a little more “spicy.”

On to a more pleasant time, a moment of teal during the day and dark purple at night. They were only around for a second, so if you missed out and paid no attention to all the pre-press surrounding these two dresses, then you missed out.

The hype surrounding Maria Sharapova at this year’s Open was pretty large. Going into her match up with Caroline Wozniacki, she had just come off of a 6-0, 6-0 victory over American, Beatrice Capra.
However, in her match with Wozniacki, Sharapova showed that same old inconsistency, giving up three consecutive points by double faulting. These issues aside, Sharapova looked very nice when taking the court.

Now for more of the bad, Aravane Rezai came into the US Open as the No. 18 ranked player in the world. Most didn’t expect to see her to be outsed so quickly, especially by the 371st-ranked teenager Beatrice Capra in the second round. The upset aside, what was she wearing?

The stripes on her top came across like a costume from Akira Kurosawa's "Samaurai Warrior" but with just the right amount of daintiness in her flutter sleeves to just make you scratch your head and ask “what was she thinking?”

Next on the chopping block is Elena Dementieva. How can a player manage to go so quickly from this

to this?

By choosing this Yonex women's tennis dress, Dementieva looks less like a player and more like the girl selling peanuts at the concessions stand. If not for the raquet her opponent might have been tempted to order a hot dog from her, I know I was.

Lastly, they say a picture is worth a thousand words. For the outfit choices made by Nadia Petrova and Bethanie Mattek-Sands, there is only one:tacky.

I’ll end on a good note; Caroline Wozniacki showed a lot of determination and tenacity during her time at the US Open. Not once showing if she was intimidated by her big name opponents like Maria Sharapova, she remained solid until the end.

Photo By: Matthew Stockman, Getty Images

Though her outfit choice seemed a little impractical at times, riding up on her during play, it still takes the cake when it comes to being fashionable.

Men don't escape the eye of scrutiny, it's time for them to face to firing squad.
Alright, to balance it all out, it’s time to take aim at the men. Though most haven’t ventured into the more “fashionable” side of tennis, I have yet to see a male tennis player have glitter on his uniform, there are the few who dared to be different. For those that did, some knocked it out of the park while others tried to bunt and the ball more or less rolled off the bat and landed on their toe. Either way, for the effort, like the women they receive silent appreciation but judgement nonetheless.

Starting things out on a nice note, I’m choosing Roger Federer. At this year’s US Open, Federer provided the shock that tennis fans wanted from the player but not quite in the way they’d hoped for by losing his match to Novak Djokovic, 7-5, 1-6, 7-5, 2-6, 5-7. This loss aside, for Roger Federer fans, seeing the latest in “Fedex” style can be a treat. Rarely caught in a moment where he doesn’t look neatly groomed, dressed, and ready to impress, it’s no wonder he’s Vogue Editor Anna Wintour’s right hand man during Open season.

Next up, the man that pulled off the biggest upset of the Open, we’re going to talk about Novak Djokovic. It’s amazing how a man that dresses so well off the court could manage to just completely lose it while he’s on. From the Jersey Shore sportwear line, in their partnership with Affliction, Djokovic chased a different kind of dragon throughout the US Open. Bro’s everywhere rejoice, now there’s a brand that’ll allow you the flexibility to dig deep on the court but doesn’t supress your need to look like an idiot while you’re on the court. It’s been my experience that when something can be compared to a mullet and comes out just about even, it’s not good.  This shirt is indeed “business in the front and a party in the back,” apparently only Serbia was invited because the style is lost on me.

Time for another Serb but this time, there are no bad words to say. Janko Tipsarevic got the trend of eliminating Americans started by ousting Andy Roddick in the second round, 3-6, 7-5, 6-3, 7-6. Could it have been his large glasses that aided in the win?
Or maybe it was the Fyodor Dostoyevsky quote tattooed on his arm in Japanese that did it. Either way, accessories on male tennis players, outside of sweatbands or wristbands, is generally low. The weight of a watch can mess up a players balance and most glasses fall off the face while at play, but not these.  Always the fashionista, Tipsarevic chooses a pair of custom frames with prescription transition lenses from Oakley, mixing style and practicality, something very important to him.
                                                                                                   image from: tennis served fresh

The last guy on this, short; male tennis players have no sense of adventure when it comes to fashion, is Rafael Nadal.  Bringing a bit of Spanish heat into the game Rafa has been pushing the limits of tennis wear for a while. Whether in neon or a stealth looking black, there’s not a lot that Nadal isn’t willing to bring onto the court. During the day, Rafa invited a color infusion with his Nike Tennis Shirt in hot lime and Nike Air Max Courtballistic 2.3 with hints of hot lime. At night, he brought something different with him onto the court in black with sparing dashes of brightness, the subtle bits of hot lime on his shirt, and let his shoes bring in the traditional Rafa being predominately hot lime.

Twitter Round Up
Giving you all the news in the Twitterverse from your favorite players.
Sometimes Gael Monfils has Superman-esque qualities when he leaps off the court in a single bound. Maybe he’s getting his tips from what seems to be a favorite tv show of his Smallville.

“In Smallville relaxation mode in bed…”

The rumor mill is out. Apparently, the Pope is staying in the small village of Wimbledon right now. Player Laura Robson leaked the news,

“Turns out the Pope is staying in Wimbledon. I did not know this until I walked past the security guards with machine guns yesterday.”

John McEnroe hair twin, Vince Spadea tweets a sign of the current times.
“At a gas station in LA. A guy in a mercedes pulled up and asked me for $2 for gas. I gave him a $5 bill lol .strange”

Breaking News! The Bryan Brothers are endorsing the opera singing girl on “America’s Got Talent.”
“Just texted in my vote for "America's Got Talent." That little opera girl, Jackie, is a mind-blower.”

Lots of rumors are being spread out today. According to @Rafaelnews, in an interview by ElPaĂs, Nadal received a little bit of help during the US Open Finals.

“#Nadal admits not knowing where to serve while serving for the #USOpen title & that he was told what to do. Coaching!”

What do you think about this?

America's Next Top Model: Serena Williams
Serena Williams has been a busy woman since becoming injured now onto her latest project, modeling.

For a woman that had to miss three hard-court tournaments and playing World Team Tennis 0due to a secret foot injury Serena Williams seems to be in full recovery mode right now during New York Fashion Week.  Next up on her plate may not be a series of rigorous training but a work out of a different kind. One that will challenge her agility, speed, and ability to stay poised and focused.  Williams will model in the LaQuan Smith show at the Peninsula Hotel at 1 P.M, tomorrow, September 16.

An idea inspired by Vogue Editor-at-Large, AndrĂ© Leon Talley, William’s will make her Fashion Week catwalk debut in this show.  However, as we all know, Williams isn’t new to fashion, having her own line, ANERES, having been spotted at some the hottest shows, Williams is making the most of her off time, even tweeting before hanging out with newest BFF Anna Wintour. Spotted at some the hottest shows, Williams is making the most of her off time, even tweeting before hanging out with newest BFF Anna Wintour. All of this is following her surgery, for the aforementioned foot, Serena has begun slowly getting back to her practice schedule, hoping to be able to compete in the Fed Cup in Italy this November.

Kournikova takes it off while opening up to Maxim.
Nothing says America like apple pie, soldiers, and a Russian/American pin-up.
Since entering the tennis world back in…there’s been one major factor that’s played into Anna Kournikova’s popularity and her inability to be taken serious; her looks. While most sponsors would’ve probably preferred that Kournikova had the power to compete on a top level, though she did make it to No. 8 in the world in 2000, this wasn’t the case. On her own, she was adequate but with partner Martina Hingis she’s been able to reach No.1 in doubles.  Now, embracing her true calling, Anna is gracing the cover of the October issue of Maxim.
The 29-year-old tennis champ looked less ready to take it to an opponent and more ready for a day on an exotic beach in a white bikini. Completing her look, Kournikova dons a pair of dog tags, subtle makeup, tousled hair, and a mischievous smile.
On the front cover, the magazine proudly proclaims "Anna Kournikova 3-D! (Dreams do come true)."  Inside, the issue also comes includes a free pair of 3-D glasses, so that viewers can see Kournikova the way they’ve always wanted, in three dimensions.
Inside, Anna stayed mum about her relationship with Enrique Iglesias. Refusing to give straight answer about their current status, Kournikova simply replied:
“Single as in on paper? Yes, but I'm in a relationship.”
She also went into detail about her work with the United Services Organizations,USO, and how she’s proud to be a pin-up for the soldiers serving overseas.
“I love it. I have the best fans and it was really cool to see that they'd have pictures from my tennis days up on their walls…And I don't think I've ever met nicer or more respectful people than in the military.”

50 first twitter dates.
A night on the town with Janko Tipsarevic and Novak Djokovic

Now that the US Open is over, there’s a lot of down time around the Tennis Now office. Some have chosen to knuckle down in prep for the Davis Cup; over-achievers. While others haven’t even noticed and are still as busy as they were before; tired over-achievers. Then there are the rest of us, scrapping the bottom of the internet barrel to find something interesting to write about. Any sliver of gossip, a glint of drama, or even a mildly interesting tweet, we’ll hop on it like Lady Gaga to anything out of the ordinary. But alas, when even our best efforts cannot be met there’s still that awkward lull. The one when you look around at your co-workers as they furiously type away and you’re…daydreaming; time waster.

Well, that’s not true. My mind is definitely busy at work, only not on anything work related. Currently, I’m in a nightclub, only where I am they’re still called Discotechque’s; such is the way in Belgrade. The mix of house and trance music is pounding against the walls and no matter where you are in the club, you can feel it pushing up against you.

A friend, we’ll say TennisNow news anchor Lauren Lynch, and I are sitting at the bar watching patrons dance and act like complete fools. As I scan the crowd for the girl wearing the shortest skirt with the highest heels, and there always is one, Lauren grabs my arm and says “Is that Novak Djokovic?” I follow her finger and confirm that yes it is, in fact, the world No. 2 ranked player. I lean over and discreetly yell over the music “and that guy, the one bringing drinks to the table, is that Janko Tipsarevic?”

Lauren nods her confirm, “it’s so sad, you know, his wife and everything.” “What happened?” I ask.  “Licked to death by kittens.” “How awful, that’s been happening a lot lately,” I respond “those poor guys. That's the same thing that happened to Nole's girlfriend.” As we glance back to the guys, we notice they’re whispering to one another as Janko points towards us. We look at one another for a moment and then smile at the guys. They suddenly begin to wave us over. “Should we go?” I ask. “Sure, we work in tennis, they play tennis. Why not?” Lauren responds.

As we fight our way through the crowd, shaking our heads at people offering whistles and glowsticks, the DJoker and Tipsy, not just a cute nickname anymore, begin to make room for us at their booth. Before making it to the table, I notice a fan has come over and has asked for a photo with Janko, he happily obliges.

When we finally make it to them, the introductions begin “Hi, I’m Kim and this is…” Nole holds up his hand to stop me, “I know who she is, Lauren Lynch, no?” “Yes,” she answered. “I watch your videos all the time. I am a big fan of Tennis Now. I am Novak, this is Janko, we are both swinging guys! Both Janko and I enjoy doing many things.” “We are.. two wild and crazy guys!” said Tipsarevic, holding up his caipirinha in some kind of celebration. “Well, you two both look like some foxy American girls, who are very attractive and who enjoy having a good swinging time. We are leaving this club soon, come with us?” said Janko.

“Uh…please excuse us for a moment,” Lauren says and pulls me away from the booth. “What should we do?” she ask.  As I look at the boys and look back at Lauren milling over our options, the obvious choice is staring me right in the face. I take her arm and walk back to the table, "we'd love to go with you, " I say.

To be continued….

All photo's from @JankoTipsarevic

Twitter Round Up
Giving you all the news in the Twitterverse from your favorite players.
It’s like they chose to trade places, Fernando Verdasco is usually the repetitive Twitter monster updating the world on his sleeping habits. But taking his place, at least while Verdasco enjoys his vacation, seems to be Gael Monfil, updating the world on the happenings of a tiny town in Kansas known as Smallville.

“I love the 8th season of Smallville”

This isn’t all he’s been up to though, named as a member of the Davis Cup France team; Monfil took time to pose with his fellow teammates at a reception.

Florida must be a pretty small place where tennis players can find each other with ease. Granted, it was her book signing so where else would she be? Still a little surprised to see a Bryan Brother drop in though

“Randomly bumped into @venuseswilliams at her book signing in Bal Harbour. Big line but I clotheslined 3 kids to say hi. Get me a gold, Vee.”

Brad Gilbert spreads a little love @PatrickMcEnroe’s way while he’s up in the mountains in Colombia.

“Best of Luck in Bogata! Hope the guys are dealing with the altitude- BIG GUYS in the Altitude = BIG ADVANTAGE. Go USA!”

John Isner wins for photo's of the day, though he’s not in the first one. Gotta love a little bit of personality on Sam Querrey’s part
"Isn't he trendy?"

A little later, he took time to rep his country in a USA inspired jumpsuit while petting the hotel guard dog.

Jamie Murray is pretty bold. Asking for Twitter friends, isn’t that illegal in the competition of Twitter?

“who is gonna be my 9199th follower?! new dreams.”

Though this tweet is a little older than the rest, it’s still relevant today. Coming from Andy Roddick, this question will send you into deep thought.

how good of a job was it for the guy who just talked in a deep voice in all the boyz 2 men songs?“

Going for the heat
Who do you think is the best.
There are 6 ways to vote and only one will get to be the winner. Though this may not seem of any importance to some, given the current climate of events in our country, it’s more pressing that you would think. Women are going into an uproar trying to decide, who deserves to be named “the sexiest U.S. Open tennis player.”
That’s right; now that the games have ended it’s time for the real competition to begin, hottie or not even close? In a recent post, Glamour Magazine dared to ask this question and now the race is on. I’m sure the players involved in this poll are glued to their computer screen to see who is passing them in the rankings, and maybe even voting for themselves. The bragging rights would be worth it, for sure.
Up on the ballot the usual’s, Roger Federer,  Rafael Nadal, and Andy Roddick. Though he lost at the Open, Federer is ranked the highest holding over 43% of the votes and Rafa in second with over 23%.
But also sharing in the objectification is the new crop of tennis hotties:  Bryan Brothers, Bob and Mike, John Isner, and World No.2 Novak Djokovic.
The debate is on amongst commenter’s, pledging undying devotion to the Roger and Rafael; and most admitting to changing camps, moving from Andy to John.
“John Isner. I fell in love with him during his match that lasted 3 days! I used to love Andy Roddick, but I gave up on him a long time ago... fair-weather fan, I suppose!” said one commenter.
Left out in the cold it seems are Djoker and the twins, who round out the list with only 4% of votes. Though I am sure after seeing this video, ladies will change their mind.

Twitter Round Up
Giving you all the news in the Twitterverse from your favorite players.
Whoever said that athletes aren’t just like the rest of us? Caroline Wozniacki is spending her vacation time the same way most women do, shopping.

“Went to the Malene Birger store and picked out some really nice outfits! She makes beautiful things!”

Falling victim like everyone else to Twitter, there doesn’t seem to be much left out of Fernando Verdascos internet life. Addicted? Maybe just a little.

“Good morning my people!how are u?im sorry but yesterday my phone got wet and till today didn't work again! I was missing u already!”

Brad Gilbert never seems to stop, taking his Davis Cup commentary to Twitter.

“I would've figured breaks would be few & far between-maybe with the pressure-less Tretorn balls serving isn't as easy as it looks.”

If only this was true, Justin Gilmelstob has the right idea.

“I wish napping and watching Tivo was an Olympic sport #fb”

Taking a break from Smallville, Gael Monfils cheered on teammate Michael Llorda this morning. Could it have helped lead France to victory this morning?

“Preparation de mika llodra pour le premier match.alĂ© mika.alĂ© la FRANCE...”

He may be small but strong. Ferocious but a sweetie. Don’t underestimate him or you could be in for real trouble. Look at what he did to Bob Bryan yesterday.

Bob Bryan getting dominated by a kid
"This kid has broken me down physically & mentally. He's part monkey. He owns me. Babysitting's no joke. #fb"

Bryan attempted a comeback today, but his determination couldn’t be broken. He’s like Rocky.

Some of America's top athelete's have assembled together for a worthy cause: double stuffed Oreo licking.
There are those moments when you waste your time and it’s not all that bad. Then there are the moments where you want to demand your wasted time back, after viewing the new double stuffed Oreo commercial, I currently fall into the later.

It’s pretty much expected that when there’s a phone dialing stuffed Oreo named “Stuffy,” nothing good or truly informative can come of it. In the commercial we, meaning consumers, meet Team DSRL for the first time. They’re off on a mission to eliminate the nameless, faceless, villain wishing to rid the world of Oreo licking competitions, which if that was my only mission as a villain I would try and remain nameless and faceless as well. After receiving an alert from Eli Manning, the assumed leader, the team, made up of Venus Williams, Apolo Ohno, and Shaquille O'Neal, assembles together at an unknown location in color coordinated outfits ready to take on the challenge. Unfortunately, we, the audience, are left unknowing of what will happen next…darn.

What will I do in the mean time before the next commercial comes out? I suppose I could eat double stuffed Oreo’s, isn’t that what the team members would do? Oh wait; they’re top athlete’s those don’t fit into their diet. So why should they be included in mine? I get being the face of a product but seriously, in her recent clinic for Ralph Lauren, Williams even broke down her work-out and diet, you can probably already guess that Oreo’s aren’t on the list.

Twitter Round Up: Part 1
Giving you all the news in the Twitterverse from your favorite players.

What’s the best part of waking up if you’re a Bryan Brother? Taking a ballon ride over Napa, well that’s the best part for today at least.

Serbia has a reason to be extra proud today. After rallying for a 3-2 victory over the Czech Republic, Serbia will host France in the final of the Davis Cup men's international team tennis competition. Janko Tipsarevic tweeted this photo out to fans.

Another life changing question brought on by Fernando Verdasco. Why practice eating only around Thanksgiving when it can be done all year long?

“recovering energy after the practice eating at "la cañada"

Andy Roddick threw a little bit of support the American’s way for their 8-6 win at the Davis Cup.

“mardy fish 8-6 in the fifth.... all heart and he willed the US team to a win in Columbia”

And then the twerps caught him.

“yes... colombia..... thank you to all 250,000 who corrected me :)”

Twitter Tennis Round Up
Giving you all the news in the Twitterverse from your favorite players.

When put in this position, doubles player Ross Hutchins made the choice every guy should make.

“Tuesdays dinner Debate..'3 things would you take if stranded on a desert Island for 6 Months?'My answer..Nando's Peri Peri, radio, girlfriend”

Fernando Verdasco definitely knows how to engage is twerps. Frequent tweets and animals.

“Going out of segovia after having a unbelievable lunch! How pretty is this city! I will put some pictures after! Kisses!”

From earlier in the day

Guess who Andy Murray bumped into?

Just finished burberry show, sat next to @serenawilliams who is lovely and looked great too!

How funny that Serena tweeted out this photo shortly after. But the big question is why is she not wearing a coat yet Andy is bundled up?

Janko Tipsarevic had the kind of night the Black Eyed Peas sing about.

"Unreal night...was behind the decks for like 30 minutes...House music cures all!!!!!!!!!!"

Who's nose is this?
There's been a lot of rumors and speculation surrounding Serena Williams lately. The most recent is suprising.

Beauty’s only skin deep, right? Not in this day in age. If there’s one thing people no longer have to stand for, it’s their looks. Whether you believe your looks are a blessing or a curse from God, it doesn’t matter, take the receipt into a plastic surgeon you’ll get an even exchange. Your old face for their new one.

Surrounded by the latest “did she or didn’t she?” controversy is tennis player Serena Williams. After dropping out of the US Open for a suspicious foot injury, Williams has kept the internet buzzing with rumors about her. First was how she got the injury, after remaining silent over the cause of her cast, the truth finally broke when commentator Mary Carillo broke the news that while on vacation in Germany a beer bottle was dropped on her foot; mystery solved. Now, the latest news is over her moneymaker, no, not her behind, but her face.

After being spotted everywhere that mattered, Williams has been in the news not only for her attendance at major fashion events during New York Fashion Week but who she was with constantly seen with bff Ana Wintour. There’s no doubt now with her boot removed that Williams underwent foot surgery, the question being asked now, however, is did she have a rhinoplasty too?

According to the Daily Mail, the players new look, firstdebuted at the Hamptons Magazine Cover Party at Pranna, was dramatically different from what’s been seen from her in the past. The newspaper is quoted as saying,

“The tennis champion revealed a remarkably fresh-faced look which prompted speculation she may have succumbed to the surgeon's knife.”

It’s no secret that lots of celebrities use contouring techniques with their make-up to add the illusion of a more defined face, actress Terri Hatcher took to Facebook with no make up to prove this very point. But celebrity watchers seem to think they’ve spotted proof that tennis star Serena Williams had a nose job while she “rested” her injured foot.

The blog Why Fame said  “Serena Williams has decided to change her masculine figure and it looks like she started with her nose.

Either way, Serena is definitely looking noticeably better than before. Hopefully the days of blonde and gold are behind us and in its place, the girl worthy of being at Ana Wintour right hand will stay.

Sears, Murray, and Burberry
Tennis stars came out to see what all Burberry has in store for the Spring and Summer of 2011.

The unveiling of Burberry’s Spring and Summer 2011 line was a star studded affair. Actors, tennis stars and musicians flocked to yesterdays Burberry Prorsum show at the Chelsea College of Art and Design, the piece de rĂ©sistance of London’s Fashion Week. Though the latest designs are what some are talking about there were three stand outs that can’t be over looked.

First, London Bridge didn’t fall down yesterday at Burberry’s fashion show but one of their models did. Chosen to close the show, all eyes were placed on 16-year-old model Nina Porter only to see her topple to the ground. It appeared that Porter seemed to have tripped in her stilettos and landed face down on the runway, nearly landing on front row audience members Sarah Jessica Parker before quickly righting herself and resuming her walk. Porter has been dubbed 'the new Emma Watson', after the Harry Potter stars successful campaign for Burberry last year.

Sitting beside SJP was No.1 player Serena Williams in a chartreuse frock with a woven, ruffled effect.

One beauty who stood out from the earthy browns and greens was Andy Murray's on again girlfriend Kim Sears. Sears wore a striking cobalt-blue coat, causing eyes to go directly to her. Making a fabulous choice, Sears paired her outerwear with leather-look leggings and stilettos.

Sharapova the brand ambassador for TAG Heur
After a 6-3, 6-3 loss to Kimiko Date Krumm at the Pan Pacific Open, Maria Sharapova is back. In Japan, that is, working as a spokesperson for TAG Heuer.
It’s amazing how busy one can get especially when they’re not working. For someone who lost in the first round of a competition where she was the defending champion last year, Maria Sharapova’s ability to bounce back is impeccable. Part woman, part cat it seems that no matter how devastating the loss she always lands on her feet.

maria-sharapova-tag-heuer-15.jpg                As of recent, Masha was spotted in Japan for the launch of Tag Heuer’s new Lady Steel & Ceramic on September 24 at the Tag Heuer Ginza flagship. After being named the TAG Heuer ambassador, Sharapova premiered the new watch to the media and VIP customers. What makes this watch so special is the ceramic and steel both in the bracelet and on the studded, with a total of sixty diamonds, bezel.

To fit the role well as model and spokesperson, Sharapova choose checkerboard patterns on her red skirt and black top, both pieces were from Vionnet. While her staggeringly tall heels were from Cole Haan; hmm…I wonder why she chose them.

The event wasn’t a complete Masha-wash out. Celebrating the accomplishments of professional ice skater and Olympic gold medalist, Tag presented a Lady Steel & Ceramic watch to Shizuka Arakawa. The watch was given to her by Sharapova as the prize of a Lady Award.
