Jurgen Melzer Wow!  For the first tilme Jurgen has reached the quarter finals of a slam.  He is 29, his birthday was this month, and he is the oldest player left in the draw.
I am so proud of him.

RE:Jurgen Melzer Xiowa I knew you would be pleased. Even better his post game interview was one of the most modest and insightful looks at a veteran player who is inspired by a new coach but clearly loves to play and is so proud to be representing Austria. A very modest and clearly intelligent observer of the tour where he suffers with the constant comparisons with Muster who has not been in a slams for years.Free Jurgen!

RE:Jurgen Melzer OMG   He beat Djokovic.  How greeat is that for Jurgen.

How will he do against Nadal?  I have no idea, but I will be pulling for Jurgen to pull the biggest win of his life.  He said today's win was his biggest.
I have always believed in him.

RE:Jurgen Melzer Xiowa, you got me interested in Melzer years ago on the old tennis week boards. I came looking for you today because his performance at RG was truly spectacular. Glad I found you. You must be thrilled.

RE:Jurgen Melzer It is so nice to find many people from the old Tennis Week site  coming here.  I hope more find us soon.

I was so proud of Jurgen at the FO.  Because of his great play he is now ranked 16 in the world.  The only Austrian to ever have done better is Muster.

Jurgen is playing in Hale, Germany this week.  He struggled in his first round but won it in three sets.

RE:Jurgen Melzer Today Jurgen defeated Troicki in 5 sets after losing the first tow sets.  Now if it all works out I think he will play Mr. Federer.

RE:Jurgen Melzer Have you noticed that Jurgen and his partner, Philipp Petzschner have reached the finals in Men's Doubles?  With the Bryans out, they have a great chance.  Today they beat the team that beat the Bryans.

RE:Jurgen Melzer

Watching Jurgen in the 4th round of the US Open. Never beyond the third round of a major before this summer, and now three majors in a row. The great summer continues!

RE:Jurgen Melzer I was s o proud of how well he played in the match against Federer.  I hope he can keep it up for the rest of the year.  Winning the doubles at Wimbledon must have been so great for him and Petzschner.  I hope they do well at the year end in London.

RE:Jurgen Melzer Jurgen is in Thailand this week.  So far he is continuing his great tennis.  This has been such a wonderful tennis year for him.  Today he beat Sela in singles and reached the quarter-finals and in doubles he played with Erlich and has reached the semi-fnals.

Jurgen's regular doubles partner, Philip Petzschner tour a ligament in his leg and will not be able to play for a while.  They hope he will be better to play in London if they qualify.  Right now the are the 7th team in rankings.

Jurgen is now engaged to Mirna Julic, an Olympic swimmer for Austria.  She is perfect for him.

He is ranked 13 in singles and wants to try and reach the top 10 by the end of the year.  I feel he is playing well enough to do it.

RE:Jurgen Melzer This week Jurgen Melzer beat the #1 singles player Nadal  and the #1 doubles team Bryan/Bryan.
Has any other player done that?  I know it is just recently that top players have  begun to play doubles.  John McEnroe may have done it, but he was #1 himself for a long time.  Does anyone know?

RE:Jurgen Melzer Jurgen won the Bank Austria title today defeating fellow country man and LL Andreas Haider-Mourer.  Andy served for the match but nerves took over and Jurgen was able to break him.  Jurgen has won this title twice in a row now.  Only the second time that has happened.
