POME Ken Skupski GB ( Former LSU) doubles player joins up with Australian Joran Kerr
Valued member
POME: KEN SKUPSKI GB number 1 doubles players former LSU plays with an Aussie Young ken will be playing with Joran Kerr the australian player who had a career high of 23 in 2008 and is now 63 ranked in the world is based in London. They will play 4 tournaments this side of the year and interestingly Ken a lefty will play on the deuce side. IMO I think this will give the pair a great advantage as they can go for their big forehand strokes anything down the middle.
Two points to consider is that next month is the beginning of the old rivalry at cricket when these two nations England and Ausralia will fight over the Ashes in Australia
The series is named after a satirical obituary published in a British newspaper, The Sporting Times, in 1882 after a match at The Oval in which Australia beat England on an English ground for the first time. The obituary stated that English cricket had died, and the body will be cremated and the ashes taken to Australia. The English media dubbed the next English tour to Australia (1882–83) as the quest to regain The Ashes.
Know doubt if the two are to play on after Christmas there will be some hot discussions about the test matches. I don't think Ken and Jordan will be "sledging" at the start of the 5 test series when the two get a chance to watch the matches as they both will have to concentrate on tennis. For our American readers Sledging is a term used in cricket to describe the practice whereby some players seek to gain an advantage by insulting or verbally intimidating the opposing batsman. The purpose is to try to weaken the opponent's concentration, thereby causing him to make mistakes or underperform.
Skupski and Kerr could be the surprise doubles pair of the new season, both have big serves and natural volleyers, something that their previous partners fell short of.
The Pome( Ken Skupski) as the Australians like to call anyone from England, could soon embrace Skupski by the end of year if he can gel with Kerr.
POME is short for Prisoner of Mother England, an abreviation created by the convicts sent out to Australia from England.
