Djokovic and Nadal Victory for Djokovic over Nadal provided some interesting  talking points. The elimination of gluten from the Serbs diet has significantly improved his health. There are many proponents in the natural health industry who have championed against wheat. Food is the fuel that heals and energises our body but since mass production and the invention of can and processed food  has accumulated a obese and sick society. Djokovic was  sometimes vilified for his sudden retirement  in the middle of matches. There was no sympathy just a plethora of cliches about his lack of will and “not wanting it enough” nutrition can changed the chemical unbalances in the brain and body. The lack of omega oils and vitamin C have ( Remember the ‘limeys’ British sailors who suffered from scurvy because of the lack of it) established this in the medical world.
By contrast Nadal who looked a spent force on Sunday could not manage that extra step to win his third title. It was not surprising that the defeat came early in the fourth set. The Spaniard had been playing with the aid of modern medicine,  pain killing injections in his foot. If these are cortisone that it is a gamble on the health of the young man. The Spaniard was clearly a step slow and although Djokovic played well I could not help but think back 3 years ago when Nadal was at his peak if he would have missed so many balls as he did. At 25 he is now a veteran of the game. Wear and tear on the body and mind may not see this player reach another Wimbledon final.
Short term gain rather than longevity is the goal of many ‘advisors’ that these players have in their entourage.
Health is wealth, not winning titles. Well done Djokovic, for the moment you have both.
