Fans at the O2 Arena are suddenly pining for a competitive match after a Monday afternoon/evening double bill that saw two comprehensive, double-breadstick shellackings in the singles draw at the Barclays World Tour Finals.

WTF?! Berdych and Cilic Losses Join Worst-Ever List at World Tour Finals

Novak Djokovic shut down Marin Cilic in every facet of the game in Monday’s second match, negating the Croat’s powerful serve and ground game with a clinical 6-1, 6-1 trouncing for his 28th consecutive indoor victory.

With the victory Djokovic improves to 11-0 lifetime against this year’s US Open champion and moves within two victories of clinching the ATP’s year-end No. 1 ranking for a third time in the last four years.

Djokovic completed his beatdown in 57 minutes, breaking serve six times on nine opportunities, and cracking 13 winners against 12 unforced errors.

One of seven players to own three or more titles at the ATP World Tour Finals, Djokovic increased his winning streak at the event to 11. The last player to defeat Djokovic at the event was Janko Tipsarevic in 2011. The Serb is bidding to become the first player to complete the WTF three-peat since Ivan Lendl in 1987.

Coming into this week, Djokovic had earned $5,983,000 at this tournament, which is third behind Pete Sampras ($8,290,000) and Roger Federer ($12,076,000).

Cilic, who is making his ATP Finals debut, joins Juan Martin del Potro and Todd Martin as the tallest players (6’6”, 1.98m) in tournament history.
