Stan Wawrinka needed only to win three games to reach the last four of the ATP World Tour Finals for a second consecutive year, but just for good measure Wawrinka went ahead and notched a 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 victory over Marin Cilic to finish the round-robin portion of the tournament at 2-1.

Wawrinka will face his friend and Davis Cup teammate Roger Federer in Saturday’s evening session semifinal. The pair have split two decisions in 2014, with Wawrinka trumping Federer in the Monte-Carlo final and Federer exacting revenge at Wimbledon.

Federer, who has lost just 13 games thus far in London, holds a 14-2 career edge over Wawrinka.

In Saturday’s first semifinal, Novak Djokovic will face Kei Nishikori. Djokovic, who clinched the year-end No. 1 ranking by shellacking Tomas Berdych on Friday, has only lost nine games thus far at London. It is the least amount of games that any player has lost in round-robin play in the history of the event.

Nishikori upset Djokovic in four sets in this year’s US Open semifinals, but he’ll have to contend with Djokovic’s scorching-hot indoor form. The Serb has won 30 straight matches indoors, which is the third-longest streak in the history of the ATP.
