Rafael Nadal underwent successful appendectomy surgery on Monday at a clinic in Barcelona, and is expected to be released in 24 to 48 hours, his public relations team said.
The 28-year-old elected to pull out of this year’s Paris Masters and World Tour Finals in order to give himself proper time to recuperate for next season.
Currently the world No. 3 is slated to begin his 2015 campaign in Doha on January 5th.

Update: Rafa posted his post-surgery photo later in the day. Looks a bit woozy, but happy to be resting and beginning his recovery.
