The always-popular Agnieszka Radwanska again proved persistency pays off as the Polish star crafted yet another fine season to reach the WTA Finals in Singapore. She needed to stay on course to Singapore during a year that featured several highs yet also several disappointing lows.

Radwanska started off the year in Melbourne tasting triumph and disappointment en route to the Australian Open semifinals. Her bravura performance over defending champion Victoria Azarenka left her exultant. It also left "Aga" with not much left in the tank as Radwanska then lost in a very quick 70 minutes in the semis to eventual finalist Dominika Cibulkova.

Singapore Stories: Wozniacki | Ivanovic | Bouchard

Radwanska enjoyed another great run that came up just short when she reached the Indian Wells final later in March. Once again, Radwanska couldn't play her best when she wanted to, this time due to a knee injury. She offered little resistance to winner Flavia Pennetta in a performance that left Radwanska near tears during the trophy ceremony.

Though her early success in the season suggested Radwanska might make another deep run at a major, it wasn't meant to be.

Early losses in Paris and Wimbledon had Radwanska sitting on the sidelines ready to get back on the hard courts.

Yet, it was in Montreal where Radwanska's successful style of spin and guile really paid off. During a week of multiple upsets, Radwanska kept herself alive all the way through the finals. Therel, Radwanska played a thoughtful, complete match against Venus Williams on her way to claiming her 14th career WTA title.
Since Montreal, Radwanska suffered several early round upsets both at the US Open to Shuai Peng and then later in the recent Asian swing.

Despite her Montreal triumph, this season was mixed for Radwanska and in some ways a test of where her career is headed. She didn't make any real inroads against the top power players who often dominate her on the court. And Radwanska also found herself losing ground ranking wise to several up and coming players.

Yet, by reaching the WTA Finals once again, Radwanska proved that remaining consistent pays off even during a year of highs and lows. A good result in Singapore may just be what Radwanska needs to celebrate this season in total. With a slice of cheesecake, of course.
Season Highlights:
