For Spain's David Ferrer, Acapulco must feel like a second home after he claimed his fourth title at the Abierto Mexicano Telcel event.

ATP: Nadal Faces Monaco in Buenos Aires Final

Ferrer snapped a five-match losing streak against top seed Kei Nishikori to win the title in Saturday's final.

The 32-year-old Spaniard took hold of a 3-1 lead in the opening set. Though the No. 2 seed Ferrer would trade breaks with Nishikori, he soon served out the set 6-3.

The second set proved more complicated for Ferrer despite jumping out to a 3-0 lead. Nishikori battled back and evened things at 4-all. Ferrer broke again and served for the title up 5-4. Yet, the moment proved too much as Nishikori broke back for 5-all.

Ferrer countered by breaking Nishikori again giving him a second chance to serve it out. This time he would not falter as Ferrer closed out the 6-3, 7-5 victory in just under two hours.

It was his first win over Nishikori since 2013. Acapulco is now Ferrer's third title this season and 24th career title overall.

Ferrer also made history by becoming the first man since Ivan Lendl to win back-to-back titles on different surfaces in two weeks. Lendl last did that back in 1985.

In the women's final, No. 5 seed Timea Bacsinszky won her first WTA title since 2009 over No. 3 seed Caroline Garcia 6-3, 6-0.
