Garbine Muguruza notched a routine 6-4, 6-2 victory over 5th-seeded Agnieszka Radwanska for her 3rd top ten win of 2015, and second against Radwanska.

“I think I played very good today,” Muguruza said in an on-court interview after her match. “I didn’t let Aga do her game, so I’m really happy with my performance.”

Muguruza’s electrifying power allowed the Spaniard to dictate the terms of the match from start to finish, and only when the 21-year-old’s game went on temporary hiatus did Radwanska make any headway on the scoreboard.

Radwanska would crawl back from 5-1 down in the first set to 5-4, but a composed Muguruza served out the set, an opener that saw her win 18 of 21 first-serve points.

Muguruza would have a point for a double-break lead in the third game of the second set, but some loose points gave the Pole a lifeline, which she took and eventually used to draw even at 2-all.

But after Radwanska double-faulted to hand Muguruza a break in the next game, the Spaniard ran with the momentum to close the match without hardly a whimper from Radwanska.

Radwanska drops to 5-3 on the season, and she has yet to reach the quarterfinals in any of the three events she has played.

Muguruza improves to 10-2 on the season, and has not yet lost to a player outside of the top 10. She’ll meet either Petra Kvitova or her doubles partner Carla Suarez Navarro in the quarterfinals.
