The victory moves Brown into the quarterfinals, where he’ll square off with Ivo Karlovic on Friday.
Brown owns a 2-1 edge over Karlovic but lost their last meeting in Delray Beach earlier this year.
Elsewhere on Thursday, American Rajeev Ram saved two match point to defeat Adrian Mannarino, 2-6, 7-6(8), 7-6(2), while John-Patrick Smith of Australia moved past Tatsuma Ito of Japan, 6-3, 6-7(2), 6-3.
Smith had never won an ATP-level match prior to this week.
