Matters took a left turn on the red clay of Gstaad today.

Playing on adjacent courts, left-handers Feliciano Lopez and Thomaz Bellucci both advanced to the Swiss Open Gstaad quarterfinals.

The second-seeded Lopez smacked 10 aces in a 2-6, 6-4, 6-1 win over German qualifier Julian Reister. It was Lopez's first ATP match since he wed long-time girlfriend Alba Carrillo on July 17th. Several of Lopez's friends and fellow players—Fernando Verdasco, David Ferrer, Marcel Granollers, Alex Corretja and Alberto Berasategui—attended the wedding.

Facing the fifth-seeded Bellucci is no honeymoon in Switzerland. Three of the Brazilian's four career titles have come on Swiss soil. Bellucci needed just 59 minutes to dismiss Stephane Robert, 6-3, 6-2.

Bellucci, who won Gstaad in 2009 and 2012, improved his record to 14-3 at event setting up a quarterfinal clash with defending champion Pablo Andujar.

Thomaz Bellucci

The fourth-seeded Spaniard was a 7-5, 6-2, victor over Dusan Lajovic, avenging a loss to the Serbian in Sao Paulo earlier this season. Andujar, who was runner-up to Kei Nishikori in Barcelona during the spring, advanced to his third quarterfinal of the year.

No. 8 seeded Santiago Giraldo did not drop serve in a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Marsel Ilhan. Giraldo and Lopez will meet for the first time since the 2010 U.S. Open for a semifinal spot.

Top-seeded David Goffin takes on Argentine left-hander Horaciao Zeballos tomorrow.
