Anna Karolina Schmiedlova’s eight-match winning streak came to an end at the hands of an in-form Sam Stosur on Saturday at the Nurnberger Gastein Ladies.

Stosur erased a 5-2 deficit in the second set to defeat the streaking Schmiedlova, 6-1, 7-5, and book her place in her 22nd career final. The hard-serving Aussie won her seventh career title in May when she defeated Kristina Mladenovic in three sets to claim the Strasbourg championship.

“It was a tough match,” said Stosur. “It’s nice that the rain stayed away so we can play. I thought it was a good match and I’m happy to be in the final.”

The 31-year-old will meet either Sara Errani or Karin Knapp for the title on Sunday. The two Italians had their semifinal postponed for the day when heavy rains hit the tournament after the first semifinal.

Stosur improved to 2-0 over Schmiedlova with the win.
