Errani, bidding for her second title of 2015, is currently ranked 20 in the world.

The top seed broke six times on 13 opportunities against Tatashvili, and won 15 of 19 second-serve return points. Errani improves to 3-0 lifetime vs. Tatashvili.

The match was not completely without drama, as Errani failed to convert her first match point when a serve was ruled to be an ace by Tatishvili. After sealing the win, Errani took a page from the Sergiy Stakhovsky playbook and took a photo of the mark on the clay:

Was it in our out? We find it difficult to tell. Good thing it really doesn’t matter (non importa?).

Errani will face an in-form Niculescu in the semis on Saturday. Niculescu reached her second semifinal of the season with a 4-6, 6-0, 6-2 victory over Andreea Mitu of Romania.

The lower half of the draw will feature a semifinal between Anna Karolina Schmiedlova of Slovakia and Polona Hercog of Slovenia.

7th-seeded Schmiedlova broke open a close match with Danka Kovinic on Friday, reeling off eight straight games from 2-2 in the opener to cruise to a 6-2, 6-2 victory. The 20-year-old Slovakian is into her third semifinal of the year.

Hercog reached her first tour-level semi of the year with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Serbia’s Aleksandra Krunic.
