Ana Ivanovic braved the cold and dreary conditions in Monterrey to slide past Kristina Mladenovic of France, 6-3, 6-2, setting up a semifinal with Caroline Garcia.

Third-seeded Garcia moved past Magdalena Rybarikova when the Slovakian had to retire due to a knee injury after dropping the first set, 7-5.
Each of the top four seeds has moved on to the semifinals, creating a pair of intriguing last four matchups. In the bottom half of the draw, Second-seeded Sara Errani powered past three-time Abierto Monterrey Afirme champion Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, 7-5 6-4.
The Italian will face in-form Timea Bacsinszky, who defeated Urszula Radwanska, 6-4, 6-2, in the semifinals.
Fourth-seeded Bacsinszky has won eight straight since the Australian Open, which includes a title last week in Acapulco.
Ivanovic won the title last year at Monterrey, defeating Jovana Jaksic in the first all-Serbian final in WTA history.
