Caroline Wozniacki notched her 23rd career title—and first since last July—at the BMW Malaysian Open, taking down Alexandra Dulgheru of Romania, 4-6, 6-2, 6-1.

Wozniacki surrendered two breaks of serve to drop the opener against the Romanian, but rebounded to take control, grinding out points and testing the fitness of the player that had retired against her after dropping the first set last week in Doha.

"I kept making you run because I knew that you would eventually get tired, but well done and good luck in your next tournament," Wozniacki said to Dulgheru in her post-match speech.

The Dane did not face a break point in the final set, and nearly reeled off a third set bagel, but Dulgheru managed a hold after falling behind 5-0.

Wozniacki has now won a WTA title eight years running and is ranked fourth in titles among active players behind Serena Williams, Venus Williams and Maria Sharapova.

Wozniacki owns the most titles of any player in history to have not won a major. The previous holder of the record was Pam Shriver, who won 21 titles, but never won a Slam.
