Nick Kyrgios started the week celebrating his 20th birthday. He ended it with a career coming of age victory.

The 20-year-old Aussie defeated Dutchman Robin Haase 6-3, 6-4 in 56 minutes to power into his first career ATP semifinal at the Millennium Estoril Open.

The 46th-ranked Kyrgios cracked five of his seven aces in the opening set.

Playing quickly and swinging with authority, Kyrgios cruised through most of his service games. He won 78 percent of his first-serve points, including 13 of 16 first-serve points in the first set.

Kyrgios upset Rafael Nadal en route to the Wimbledon quarterfinals last summer. He opened this season fighting back from deficits twice to reach the Australian Open quarterfinals and become the first teenager since Roger Federer in 2001 to reach multiple Grand Slam quarterfinals.

Pablo Carreno Busta will play Kyrgios for a spot in the final.

Carreno Busta breezed by No. 8 seed Gilles Muller, 6-2, 6-4.

The 64th-ranked Spaniard broke serve six times in defeating the 31-year-old lefthander in 77 minutes.

"For me, this is an opportunity to play more matches, more tennis, and I was ready for the quarterfinals," Carreno Busta told ATP World Tour. "Today I played really good with my serve and return. [The clay] is slower, so I had more time on his serve. I think this is a good opportunity for me to play this match and continue to the semifinals."

Carreno Busto and Kyrgios will square off for the first time in the semifinals.

Fresh off his Bucharest title last week, Spanish veteran Guillermo Garcia-Lopez rallied from 1-5 down in the second set to beat Borna Coric, 6-3, 7-6 (4).

The 31st-ranked Garcia-Lopez is aiming for his third title of the season. He will play No. 5 seed Richard Gasquet for a place in the final. Gasquet defeated Nicolas Almagro, 6-1, 7-6 (4), in a battle of brilliant one-handed backhands.
