Fresh off his 88th career title in Basel and brimming with confidence, Roger Federer jumped all over Italian Andreas Seppi early and often tovsecure a comfortable 6-1, 6-1 victory in 47 minutes on Wednesday in Paris.

Tweener Alert: Dimitrov's Between-the-Legs Break Point Save

Federer, who had his ten match winning streak against Seppi snapped in shocking fashion at this year’s Australian Open, made sure to go for the jugular when he saw that his opponent was slow off the blocks on Wednesday evening.

The Swiss maestro broke in the opening game, crushing a forehand return winner off a second serve, then held in the next game, sealing it with an ace, his first of five on the evening.

Federer would break with a clean forehand down-the-line winner for 3-0 and hold again before Seppi scratched the scoreboard with a hold that brought out a smattering of cheers from the Parisian crowd.

But there would be no momentum to be had for Seppi as Federer reeled off the next seven games to march out to a 5-0 lead in set two before Seppi would hold again.

Once again, Seppi found that momentum impossible to corral. Federer would close the match to love in the next game, finishing with an exquisite drop shot winner, his 27th winner of the match against just five for Seppi.

Federer improves to 13-1 over Seppi lifetime with the win. Since his Australian Open loss to the Italian Federer has won all six sets from Seppi. Eleven of Federer’s 13 victories over Seppi have ended in straight sets.

Federer will face hard-serving American John Isner in the round of 16 in Paris on Thursday. The Swiss owns a 5-1 lifetime edge against Isner, and has won their last three meetings.
