Tomas Berdych is the king of Sweden. Well, maybe let’s not go that far, but the Czech has now won the If Stockholm Open in three of the last four years after taking down Jack Sock in Sunday’s final, 7-6(1), 6-2.

The victory marks Berdych’s 12th career title. He did not drop a set and has now won 12 consecutive matches in Stockholm.

“It’s been a great week for me,” said Berdych. “I hope this is just something from the beginning and we can keep having those nice moments and win some more trophies.”

Berdych battled back from a break down to level the first set at 5-all, then took the advantage in the tiebreaker in his second meeting with Sock in the last two weeks.

In the second set Berdych broke for 2-1 with a forehand smash.

After back-to-back holds, Berdych broke again by rallying from 40-0 down, winning five straight points to take a 5-2 lead.

The Czech then served the match out, converting his first match point to close affairs in one hour and 24 minutes.

“We just played last week and again this week. Two fun matches and two good experiences for me,” said Sock. “A big congrats to you and your team—great week for you guys.”

Berdych improves to 55-18 with the victory. He has won 50 or more matches in five consecutive seasons now.
