Garbine Muguruza is in full bloom in Asia. The 22-year-old Spaniard backed up last week’s runner-up performance at Wuhan by winning the China Open in Beijing, her biggest career title to date.

Muguruza overcame a shaky start to take down Timea Bacsinszky, 7-5, 6-4, for her third victory in three tries against the Swiss. In addition to clinching her spot at the WTA Finals this week, Muguruza will rise to No. 4 in the world and sit just one point behind Maria Sharapova in the rankings.

Muguruza improves to 38-18 on the season, and now owns two career titles.

“Amazing. I’m extremely happy to earn the victory today,” Muguruza told the crowd in Beijing. “To be able to come here and win the tournament is a great achievement.”

After a sluggish start that saw her broken in each of her first three service games, Muguruza rallied from 5-2 down to take the final five games of set one.

She would fall behind 2-0 in set two, but surged again to level before breaking Bacsinszky for 5-4 and serving out the match to 30.

The Spaniard has now won 19 consecutive matches after winning the first set.

Bacsinszky, who became the eighth WTA player to hit the 40-win mark, will reach the Top-10 for the first time when Monday’s rankings are released, becoming the fourth player from Switzerland to hit the milestone after Manuela Maleeva-Fragnière (a former No.3), Martina Hingis (a former No.1) and Patty Schnyder (a former No.7).
