Grigor Dimitrov turned the baseline into a launching pad beating Ivo Karlovic at his own game to power into the Istanbul Open final.

In a match devoid of service breaks, Dimitrov downsized Karlovic, 7-6 (0), 7-6 (2), to advance to his eighth career final.

The second-seeded Bulgarian will face the winner of the all-Argentine battle between fourth-seeded Federico Delbonis and Diego Schwartzman in tomorrow's final.

Dimitrov hit one more ace (10 to 9) than Karlovic, who was coming off his 301st career victory.

It is Dimitrov's eighth career final, including his second final of the season. Dimitrov lost to Viktor Troicki in the Sydney final last January.

Dimitrov is playing for his first title since the 2014 Queens' Club.

“With each match, I’m building up a good foundation to play better,” Dimitrov said.
