18-year-old phenom Alexander Zverev notched one of the biggest wins of his career by taking down former U.S. Open champion and current World No. 13 Marin Cilic to reach the quarterfinals of the Open Sud de France on Wednesday.

Zverev saved six of eight break points and took both sets to a tiebreaker against the second seed.

The victory is Zverev’s third career top-20 victory and first of the season. The 18-year-old is into his sixth career ATP quarterfinal and will bid for his first semifinal on a hard court when he meets Michael Berrer in the quarters.

Berrer defeated Kenny De Schepper of France, 6-3 6-4.

Top-seeded Richard Gasquet was also victorious on Wednesday in Montpellier. He did not face a break point in taking down Ernests Gublis, 6-4, 6-4. The defending champ will face 8th-seeded Marcos Baghdatis in the quarterfinals. Baghdatis defeated Japan’s Taro Daniel, 6-2, 7-6(7).
