The tennis season is only five weeks young and Roberto Bautista Agut has already doubled his career title haul.

The 27-year-old downed Viktor Troicki, 6-3, 6-4, to claim the inaugural Garanti Koza Sofia Open title and improve his record to 12-2 on the season.

Bautista Agut notched the lone break in the opener in the eighth game to take control of a close final. The Spaniard was near perfect on serve, winning 20 of 25 points in total, including all 12 of his first serve points, as he marched to close out the set.

After an early break by Bautista Agut in the second set, Troicki would respond with a break of his own, but the No. 3 Spaniard broke immediately back for 2-1 and did not look back for the rest of his set.

Troicki, who battled for nearly three hours to get past Martin Klizan in the semifinals yesterday, has reached two finals and won a title this year. He drops to 10-3 on the season.

“I had a long match yesterday,” Troicki said. “I needed to be 100 percent fit to win. He started the season very well. He played great the last four tournaments. So I congratulate him. He deserved the win.”
