Red-hot Dominic Thiem continued his quest to be the ATP’s most dominant player in February by knocking off February’s second-hottest player. The Austrian pounded in-form Sam Querrey into submission 6-2, 6-2 on Friday to win for the 12th time in 13 matches and reach his second final of the month.

Querrey, fresh off the Delray Beach title, simply had no answers for the 22-year-old world No. 15. Thiem did not face a break point and kept his statline squeaky clean, hammering 23 winners against just nine unforced errors in the 57-minute encounter.

Querrey was 10-1 in February heading into tonight’s matchup with Thiem, and he didn’t play poorly. It was simply a case of too much Thiem for any man to handle.

Thiem moves into his sixth career final and his first on a hard court with the victory.

His opponent will be Bernard Tomic on Saturday. The Aussie rallied after a dismal opener to take out Alexandr Dolgopolov, 1-6, 6-4, 6-3. Tomic improved to 4-6 over Dolgopolov with the spirited win and will bid for his fourth ATP title.

Thiem and Tomic have yet to meet in an ATP match before.
