Canada’s Eugenie Bouchard has won back-to-back matches at the Shenzhen Open to reach her first WTA quarterfinal since last year’s Australian Open.

The 21-year-old missed much of the second half of 2015 after a freak accident at the U.S. Open led to a concussion. The symptoms lingered for the remainder of 2015, and Bouchard pulled out of the only match she attempted to play in Beijing last October.

After a long off-season, Bouchard appears to be in good form. She battled back from 4-2 down in the third set to defeat Donna Vekic on Tuesday, and on Wednesday she rolled past American qualifier Nicole Gibbs, 6-4, 6-2.

"It was a solid match from me. I think I was able to improve off of my first round," Bouchard said, according to WTATennis.com. "But first and foremost I was able to play another whole match healthy, with no pain and no symptoms."

Bouchard, seeded sixth, will face unseeded Timea Babos in the quarterfinals.

Also reaching the quarterfinals on Wednesday in Shenzhen was top-seeded Agnieszka Radwanska, who defeated Chinese wild card Shuai Zhang, 6-1, 7-5.

Alison Riske, Qiang Wang, Katerina Siniakova and Anna Lena Friedsam also advanced.
