The world No. 5 did not face a break point against the 21-year-old, and she dropped only four first-serve points to book her spot in her third semifinal of the season.

Halep will face Vania King in the semifinals. The American saved all 12 break points she faced to defeat France’s Pauline Parmentier, 6-3, 6-1.

Latvia’s Anastasija Sevastova knocked out 2nd-seeded Sara Errani 7-6(4), 6-3, to set up a semifinal clash with 4th-seeded Laura Siegemund of Germany.

Siegemund defeated Polona Hercog, 6-2, 6-1.

2014 champion Halep made off-court news on Friday when she announced her pullout from the summer Olympic Games in Rio, citing Zika Virus fears.
