Novak Djokovic finds himself in grave danger at Wimbledon, but the world No.1 was granted a reprieve by the nagging Wimbledon spittle that wreaked havoc on Day 5 of the Championships.

The Serb dropped the first two sets of his third-round match with American Sam Querrey before rain forced the suspension of the match.

It was perfect timing for Djokovic; for Querrey a perfect quandary. What to think about tonight, while on the cusp of what would be by far the greatest victory of his career?

Djokovic saved four break points in the first set to get himself to a tiebreaker, then he wiggled out of two set points to level at 6-all but promptly lost the next two points to fall behind.

In the second set Djokovic errors led to consecutive breaks by Querrey, who took a 5-1 lead and then served out the stanza, taking a commanding two set lead on his ninth ace of the match, just before the rains came.

But hold on a moment. Is there really such thing as a commanding lead over Djokovic, a man who has won 30 consecutive Grand Slam matches?

We’ll find out on Day 6.

It’s the second time in as many years Djokovic has fell behind by two sets to love to a big server. Last year he dropped the opening two sets to Kevin Anderson before winning the final three in a round of 16 match that was extended over two days. He ended up winning his third Wimbledon title at the end of the fortnight, defeating Roger Federer in the final.

Querrey finished the two sets with nine aces and 22 winners against 17 unforced errors, while Djokovic had 13 errors and 13 unforced.
