The 37-year-old Czech qualifier is bidding to become the oldest man to win a match at a major since 40-year-old Jimmy Connors won a round at the 1992 U.S. Open. He was in incredible form from the start, but eventually came back to earth as Murray mounted his rally after falling behind two sets to love.

Murray, who entered Roland Garros as the No. 2 favorite after his win over Novak Djokovic in the Rome final last week, is trying to avoid becoming the first Top-2 seed to fall at Roland Garros in the first round since 2000, when Pete Sampras fell to Mark Philippoussis in five sets.

Murray and Stepanek will complete the match tomorrow, but tournament organizers have yet to officially schedule it.
