Rounding into form at the right time, Stan Wawrinka bounced Lukas Rosol in three sets from the Banque Eric Sturdza Geneva Open draw in three sets on Friday, sending a message to his first-round opponent at Roland Garros next week that he’s ready to battle.

Wawrinka broke critically in the sixth game of the final set to edge Rosol after the Czech had rallied to draw level by breaking him in the seventh game of the second set.

Just hours before the match, Wawrinka and Rosol learned that they'd be facing one another in the first round at Roland Garros. Wawrinka improves to 4-0 against the Czech lifetime and 2-0 in 2016.

The Swiss will move on to face a resurgent Marin Cilic in the final. Cilic, who had not played since March due to a knee injury, eased past David Ferrer 7-5, 7-5 to reach his second final of the season. The Croat snapped a four-match losing streak against Ferrer.

Wawrinka owns the 9-2 lifetime edge over Cilic, and the Swiss has taken each of their last five encounters. Wawrinka will bid for his 14th career title and third of this year; Cilic is bidding for his 15th title and first of the season.
