The 19-year-old has played nearly ten hours in four matches and will square off with defending champion and top seed Dominic Thiem in the final.

“I am very tired, but very proud to be in the final,” Zverev said after his win. “Joao came back strongly in the second set and I had to step up my game in the third.”

Zverev wins his 21st match of the season.

The German will face Pierre-Hugues Herbert in the first round at Roland Garros.

Thiem pummeled Adrian Mannarino, 6-1, 6-3. The Austrian has lost just 13 games in three matches at Nice, and owns a 9-1 lifetime record at the event.

On Saturday Thiem, who improved to 19-5 on clay for the season, will bid for his 6th career title and third of this season.

Thiem will open with Inigo Cervantes of Spain in the first round at Roland Garros.
