The teams were deadlocked at eight in the match tiebreak and it was Kontinen who stepped up and tattooed a Klaasen second serve with a backhand return that Ram could not handle at the net.
A big Peers first serve clinched the victory on the team’s first championship point.
Kontinen and Peers finish their first year as a duo as No.4 in the world. They went 43-24 and earned five ATP titles. Klaasen and Ram finish No.6 in the world. They drop to 34-22 with two titles to their name.
