After splitting the opening day, Aliaksandra Sasnovich and Aryna Sabalenka pulled off upset victories to clinch the tie.

Sasnovich knocked off Swiss No.1 Timea Bacsinszky, 6-2, 7-6(2), hitting 22 baseline winners to just 8 for Bacsinszky. She broke serve twice in the first set to run out to a 5-1 lead, and held serve for 6-2 to close out the opener.

In the second set Sasnovich failed to protect a break lead but she broke Bacsinszky when the Swiss was serving for the set then took the first five points of the second-set tiebreaker.

Sabalenka, a hard-hitting 18-year-old, scored the clinching victory, rallying past Viktorija Golubic, 6-3, 2-6, 6-4. She reeled off the final three games of the match to send the crowd in Minsk into Euphoria.
