Madison Keys displayed convincing closing power to collect her third career title in Stanford.

In an explosive all-American final between friends, Keys conquered CoCo Vandeweghe, 7-6 (4), 6-4, to earn her first title of the season.

The third-seeded Keys claimed her first championship since she won the 2016 Birmingham title.

In a match of powerful first-strike tennis, both women delivered bold strikes.

Keys cracked 23 winners against 19 unforced errors and denied all three break points she faced.

The sixth-seeded Vandeweghe hit 20 winners against 22 unforced errors.

Serving at 5-all, Keys saved a break point to hold. Vandweghe held to force the tie break.

Keys jumped out to a 4-2 tie break lead she did not relinquish building a one-set lead.

The 22-year-old Illinois native arrived in Stanford with just five victories on the year after undergoing wrist surgery in the offseason.

Keys dropped the first set she played then reeled off eight consecutive sets, including a straight-sets win over reigning Wimbledon champion and top seed Garbine Muguruza in last night's semifinals.

Contesting her second career Stanford singles final, Vandeweghe wasn't done for the day. She went out to play the doubles final.
