That has, in many ways, been the story of <strong>Caroline Wozniacki</strong>’s 2017. The Dane has been the tour’s most winningest player, amassing 46 wins against just 15 losses, but in each of her five previous finals she has fallen.<br />

She’ll get another chance on Sunday.<br />

Wozniacki routinely dispatched resurgent American <strong>Sloane Stephens</strong>, 6-2, 6-3, to book her spot on the Rogers Cup final in Toronto. She’ll face <strong>Elina Svitolina</strong> for the title. The Ukranian completed a banner day by defeating No.2-seeded Simona Halep 6-1, 6-1.</span><br />

<span style="font-size: small;">Earlier on Saturday, No.5-seeded Svitolina ralled past Garbine Muguruza 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 in the completion of a quarterfinal that had been suspended after a set due to rain on Friday.<br />

Wozniacki has dropped both of her previous meetings with Svitolina.<br />

The Dane broke six times on nine opportunities and won half of her first-serve return points (17 lf 34) as well as 13 of 17 second-serve return points to cause problems for Stephens all day.<br />
<br />
The American, playing in just her third event since returning from an 11-month hiatus due to foot surgery, rebounded briefly to recover a break and find herself on serve in the second set, but Wozniacki took the final three games, and sealed the match while serving out the semifinal after a brief rain delay. </span><br />
