Kei Nishikori decided to skip out on the Memphis Open, where he is a four-time champion, and instead Japan’s top player has taken his talents to Argentina.

Either way, he keeps winning.

Nishikori saved all three break points he faced on Friday to take down No.6-seeded Joao Sousa, 6-4, 6-1, and book a spot in the Argentina Open semis for the first time.

Nishikori broke Sousa four times out of six opportunities to improve his record to 8-2 on the season. The World No.5, who lost to Roger Federer in a five-setter at the round of 16 at this year’s Australian Open, was a runner-up in Brisbane this year.

He will face either Carlos Berlocq or Thiago Monteiro in the semis on Saturday.

The other semifinal will feature Alexandr Dolgopolov and No.4-seeded Pablo Carreno Busta.

Dolgopolov knocked off Gerald Melzer, 7-5, 6-4, while Carreno Busta defeated his compatriot Albert Ramos-Vinolas, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4.
