10 Stats to Get you Primed for Wimbledon’s Day 6

1. 5

Not to be outdone by Jelena Ostapenko, Latvian Ernests Gulbis will bid to reach the round of 16 at a major for the fifth time today when he meets Novak Djokovic on Centre Court. If he succeeds he’ll tie Larisa Savchenko’s record for the most Grand Slam appearances by a Latvian.

2. 34

Angelique Kerber will enjoy her 34th week as the WTA’s No.1 next week, but she’ll have to reach the Wimbledon final to have any chance of retaining the ranking beyond that. The German faces Shelby Rogers on Day 6, a player that she defeated in straight sets at Miami this season.

3. 64%

No player has won a greater percentage of baseline points than Novak Djokovic at Wimbledon. The Serb has won 66 of 103 such points, and he’s the only ATP player to have won over 60 percent. Djokovic will take on Ernests Gulbis on Centre Court on Day 6. The Serb owns a 6-1 lifetime edge over Gulbis and has defeated him in their last four meetings.

4. 2-3

Anett Kontaveit’s record against the Top 10. The Estonian has notched two top 10 wins this season (Muguruza and Kerber) and will face No.6 Wozniacki today. The Estonian has 20 match wins this season, compared to 13 in all of last season. She defeated Wozniacki in their only previous meeting last year on grass at Nottingham.

5. 217

Austrian Sebastian Ofner will bid to become the lowest-ranked player to reach the round of 16 at Wimbledon since 2002 when he takes on Sascha Zverev on No.2 Court. The 21-year-old is making his Grand Slam debut.

6. 2009

In 2009 Serena Williams became the last player to win a singles title after saving a match point. Agnieszka Radwanska saved two match points in her second round victory over American Christina McHale. She’ll face Switzerland’s Timea Bacsinszky on Day 6. The Swiss owns a 2-0 lifetime record over Radwanska.

7. 16

Tried and true veterans David Ferrer and Tomas Berdych will meet for the 16th time on Day 6 with a spot in Wimbledon’s second week on the line. Berdych has won the last two matches between the pair, but Ferrer holds the 8-7 overall edge. Berdych has won both previous Grand Slam meetings with Ferrer but the pair have yet to meet on grass.

8. 50/56

American CoCo Vandeweghe has won 50 of 56 first-serve points through two rounds and she’ll look to continue that trend on Day 6 when she faces fellow American Alison Riske. It’s actually Riske who has taken the pair’s last three meetings and their only tour-level meeting on grass.

9. 1

Gael Monfils is bidding to reach the round of 16 at Wimbledon for the first time and he’ll face Adrian Mannarino on Day 6. Monfils defeated his compatriot at Wimbledon in their only previous meeting in 2015.

10. 47-1

Roger Federer has won 47 of his last 48 third-round matches at majors, losing only to Andreas Seppi at the 2015 Australian Open. He is bidding to reach the second week at a major for the 58th time when he faces Germany’s Mischa Zverev on Day 6. Federer owns a 4-0 record against Zverev and has won all nine sets against him.

Enjoy the tennis!
