Venus Williams will bid for to become the oldest major title winner in Open Era history when she takes on Garbine Muguruza in Saturday's Wimbledon final. We take a close look at the numbers in today's Tennis Now Statisfaction...

1. 37

At 37 years and 28 days of age, Venus Williams will bid to become the oldest major winner in Open Era history on Sunday when she meets Garbiñe Muguruza in Sunday’s Wimbledon final. The record is currently owned by her sister Serena, who won the Australian Open this January at the age of 35. Serena is also the oldest Wimbledon women's singles winner in Open Era history--she won Wimbledon at 34 last year.

2. 6

Williams is bidding to win her sixth Wimbledon title, and first since 2008. Only Martina Navratilov (9), Serena Williams (7) and Steffi Graf (7) have more. Williams reached the semifinals last year, which marked her deepest run at Wimbledon since 2009. She passed her sister Serena on the active Wimbledon win list this year, and her current record stands at 87-14 at Wimbledon.

3. 3-1

Williams has taken three of her previous four meetings against Muguruza, but the Spaniard won their last meeting, contested on the Clay in Rome this spring.

4. 27

At the young age of 23, Muguruza is bidding to become the 27th player to win multiple major titles in the Open Era. That feat is almost as rare as becoming No.1. Only 23 players have ascended to the No.1 ranking since 1973. Muguruza is playing her third major final since Wimbledon 2015. If she wins she’ll join a list of active multiple major winners that includes Serena Williams, Venus Williams, Maria Sharapova, Petra Kvitova, Svetlana Kuuznetsova, Angelique Kerber and Victoria Azarenka.

5. 51

Muguruza’s 51 backhand winners lead all women at this year’s championships. Williams has hit 26 en route to the final.

6. 45%

Venus Williams has fired 117 unreturnable first serves in these Championships, out of 260 total in play. She has fired 34 unreturnable second serves, out of a total of 112. Muguruza has fired 30 percent unreturnable first serves and 12 percent unreturnable second serves.

But when you boil it down to service games won at Wimbledon, there’s not much difference between the two. Williams has won 59 of 65 service games while Muguruza has won 54 of 58.

7. 1997

Williams defeated three different players born in 1997 in successive rounds at Wimbledon (Osaka, Konjuh, Ostapenko). All were born in the year that Williams made her first main draw appearance at Wimbledon.

8. 8, 9

Williams will appear in her ninth Wimbledon final, eight years after her last appearance in the title match at SW19. The eight-year gap is the longest Open Era gap between final appearances by the same player in Open Era history.

9. 2003

By reaching her second Grand Slam final of 2017, Williams is playing multiple major finals in the same season for the first time since 2003. She is 7-8 lifetime in her previous 15 major finals.

10. 1994

Muguruza is bidding to become the first Spanish woman to win Wimbledon since her current coach Conchita Martinez won the title in 1994, and the second Spaniard to win Wimbledon in Open Era history.

Enjoy the tennis!
