Caroline Wozniacki is quietly putting together a fantastic season. The Dane has pushed through to four finals and has gone 9-3 at the Grand Slam level. On Thursday at Bastad Wozniacki reached the quarterfinals at the Swedish Open to become the first WTA player to hit the 40-win mark this season.

The only missing ingredient? Titles.

Wozniacki, who squeaked past Switzerland’s Viktorija Golubic 6-2, 2-6, 6-4, could make that happen by the end of the week. The top-seeded Dane will face Ukrainian Kateryna Kozlova for a chance in the semifinals on Friday.

Kozlova defeated Mona Barthel of Germany, 6-3, 6-3 on Thursday.

The Dane reached the 40-win plateau for the seventh time, and she has gone 61-17 since the start of the U.S. Open.

A title for Wozniacki could bring her back to the Top 5 for the first time since 2015.

In other action on Thursday at Bastad, No.5-seeded Carla Suarez Navarro defeated Elise Mertens. No.6-seeded Kiki Bertens handed a walkover to Barbora Krejcikova of the Czech Republic.
