Disappointed by his second-round Wimbledon exit, John Isner arrived in Newport aiming to extend his grass-court season.
The two-time champion is now one win from his first final of the season.
The top-seeded Isner pumped 20 aces powering past Dennis Novikov, 6-4, 6-4, into the Dell Technologies Hall of Fame Open semifinals.
Isner, who was ousted by Dudi Sela in the Wimbledon second round, reached the Newport final four for the fourth time.
The 32-year-old American has not dropped a set in two tournament victories.
Isner will face either fourth-seeded Pierre-Hugues Herbert or compatriot Bjorn Fratangelo for a spot in the final.
Isner is playing for a place in his first final since November when he beat Jack Sock and Marin Cilic back-to-back before bowing to Andy Murray in the Paris Masters final.
