Frances Tiafoe, one of two teenagers in the Top 100, was edged by Aussie John Millman in three tight sets, with Millman squeaking past the 19-year-old in a third-set breaker after he broke serve to stay alive in the final game.

Tiafoe took the opener and rebounded from a break down to get back on serve at 4-5 in the second set before dropping the final game and the second set with a poor service game.

In the third set Tiafoe broke for 6-5 but was broken back immediately before falling in the breaker.

19-year-old Taylor Fritz also fell on Wednesday, 7-6(5), 6-4, to World No.461 Christopher Eubanks. 21-year-old Eubanks registered his first career win, powering 11 aces past Fritz and saving the only break point he faced.

Fritz, ranked as high as 53 last season as an 18-year-old, is currently No.125. He won 15 matches at the ATP level this year, but has only managed five thus far in 2015.

In other action on Tuesday at Atlanta, No.6-seeded Donald Young worked his way past Time Smyczek, 6-4, 6-2, while No.5-seeded Kyle Edmund won on his Atlanta debut, 6-3, 7-5 over Marcos Baghdatis.

Tunisia’s Malek Jaziri won the most dramatic match of the day when he saved eight match points to defeat American Riley Opelka, 5-7, 7-6(14), 6-1.

Jaziri saved four match points at 5-6 in the second set before saving another four during the marathon breaker.
