Rublev joins Alexander Zverev as the second teenager to reach an ATP final this season.
Ranked a career-high No. 74, Rublev will face the winner of the all-Italian battle as Alessandro Giannessi faces fourth-seeeded Paolo Lorenzi in tomorrow’s final.
Rublev saved six of eight break points in a one hour, 41-minute victory that came the day after he dethroned defending champion Fabio Fognini in a thriller, 6-7 (5), 6-2, 7-6 (2).
Wild card Dodig toppled top-seeded David Goffin to reach his first Umag semifinal.
