Feliciano Lopez saved all nine break points he faced to defeat Tomas Berdych and reach the Mercedes Cup semifinals.

Feliciano Lopez battled past Tomas Berdych behind 19 aces and nine break points saved to book his spot alongside Mischa Zverev in the Mercedes Cup semis.

Lopez improved to 7-6 lifetime against Berdych, who struck 21 aces but surrendered a single break in each of the final two sets.

No.6-seeded Zverev knocked off Tommy Haas, 6-4, 6-4, to reach his second semifinal in under a month. The 29-year-old has had a solid season that also featured his first Grand Slam quarterfinal at this year’s Australian Open.

Zverev won 35 of 38 first-serve points and saved all three break points he faced against Haas.

The semifinal in the lower half of the draw will feature two Frenchman, as Lucas Pouille and Benoit Paire each came through.

Pouille improved to 5-0 in ATP quarterfinals this season with a 6-4, 2-6, 6-3 win over Germany’s Philipp Kohlschreiber. The World No.16 improved to 21-11 on the season and will face Paire for a spot in the final.

Paire did not face a break point and dropped only 13 points on serve in defeating Jerzy Janowicz, 6-1, 7-6(4). The Frenchman hit 15 aces to earn his 20th win of the season against 17 losses. Paire improved to 4-0 in ATP quarterfinals this season but he has yet to reach a final.
