It was Strycova’s first Top 10 win of the season.

Strycova has won tie breaks in three of the four sets she’s played this week, including a 7-6 (4), 7-6 (2) over Magdalena Rybarikova in the opening round.

The fourth-seeded Briton is the highest seed to fall from the draw.

"I didn't feel I was as match fit as I would like, but given it was my first match in a while I didn't think I did that badly," Konta said.

Playing aggressive baseline tennis, Konta surged out to a 4-2 lead.

Strycova answered hammering at the Wimbledon semifinalist’s forehand wing, banging out an error to break back in the seventh game.

Facing break point in the 11th game, Konta was up quickly to a short forehand, but played it back crosscourt leaving a wide expanse of court open. Strycova, who guessed right, shoveled a forehand down the line breaking for 6-5.

Trading deep crosscourt forehands, Strycova coaxed an error from Konta snatching the first set with a shout.

The second-set tiebreak saw momentum shifts as Strycova took a 4-2 lead before Konta responded with three straight points for 5-4.

Strycova ran off the final three points closing when a Konta forehand floated long. Next up for the veteran Czech is a quarterfinal meeting with Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova.

No. 9-seeded Caroline Garcia swept Kurumi Nara, 6-1, 6-3, knocking the last Japanese woman out of the singles draw and setting up a final eight clash with world No. 1. Garbine Muguruza.

Third-seeded Caroline Wozniacki rallied for a 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 win over American Shelby Rogers.

Trailing 0-3 in the decider, Wozniacki ran off six of the final seven games.

It was the reigning Tokyo champion’s sixth straight victory at the Toray Pan Pacific Open. The two-time champion has reached at least the quarterfinals in seven of her last eight appearances in Tokyo.

The sixth-ranked Wozniacki will play Dominika Cibulkova for a final four spot.

The fifth-seeded Cibulkova crushed Czech Katerina Siniakova, 6-2, 6-2, winning 86 percent of her first-serve points.

Wozniacki is 9-4 lifetime vs. Cibulkova.
